The "Home Computer Course" item is a MUST buy!

Just realised that I have a full set of Home Computer Course (for some mad reason I thought it was some issues of Input) and must say that it is a really good magazine - lots of information about 80s micros. Very good.

The best bit was when they showed the insides <drool> and explained all the parts!

Oh good lord, I would hate to see the shipping bill on those mags to Bruno and Andrew.

Like you said on another thread, it's the land of the free...
I'll probably have them shipped to Portugal.

Arrg... I'm still pissed off about this... wireless connection went with seven seconds to go... My bid didn't go through :(

From all the magazines that were for sale, the most important to me is Your Sinclair. You should be happy. :)

Ironically, I was more inclined to want the Your Spectrum...

Of course, I would have loved to get both... Then I would have had full collections of three out of four major speccy mags...

(except Sinclair User... but I was never a big fan of that one...)

Of course, the way to avoid this is simply to bid your maximum price right at the start of the auction :)

Most people don't seem to work this way, though... I had 30 "watchers" on the Crash auction, but no bids until the last couple of days! :-o

Ah but from the bidder's point of view, bidding the maximum price early is a bad idea as it encourages others to incrementally bid, thus pushing up the price I'd have to pay... If I whack in my maximum in the last minute or so of the auction, then typically it will flush out the max bids of other bidders without giving them any time to reevaluate their position and respond...

I used to do it by specifying my max bid early, but got fed up with losing out by a dollar, or worse just having someone run up my bid speculatively and then abandon it. I suspect a few shills have done stuff like that to me before.

Basically, the later I leave it, the more knowledge I have of the situation. Usually it works. Yesterday it screwed up, but one screw up is better than the situations I used to find my self in by bidding my max early.
