Anyone got a Pioneer record deck?
I need a bit of advice...I just got a Pioneer PL-990 turntable off the net. It plays fine however the Cartridge thing that the stylus slots onto doesnt seem to be fixed to the record arm, it slots into it but isnt fixed in anyway. it kinda hangs loose if you touch it showing the wires.
Does any of that make sense? Im not an audiophile - i just wanted a deck to play my old records!

Hmm looking at some pictures I have found on the web I would say that is i not fixed in with screws and lust slides into place. But none of the pictures I saw were big enough to confirm this. It should not move however, if you play your records on that you are going to do damage to them.
Show me a close up picture of the tonearm and cartridge arrangement and I'll then be able to get a better idea of what you mean.
PS: How much did you pay for your deck?
Andrew.
Well, it would - wouldn't it :D
No no, the cartidge on my Rega RB250 is screwed into place.
Its the stylus that slots in not the cartridge.
Andrew.
Tis ok, I think you missed my joke. :)
Anyone had any experience with returning stuff to Amazon?!
I didn't! I thought it was funny talking about screwing and lust and such ... har har har ... yes, yes. Me? How old am I? Why, I never!
You have one aswell? I think they were an "exclusive" at Comet, or somebody similar many years ago. I know that mine used to belong to my uncle, then my father before it came into my hands. It's at least 35 years old!
I have a Stanton D500 cart in mine, I've had a sure before now but prefer the Stanton.
