I've had email contact from Jim's mum, Sue. She's thanked everyone for their kind comments here and elsewhere.
I asked her if there was a charity she thought would be suitable for anyone who wishes to donate something in Jim's memory, and the NACC (http://www.nacc.org.uk/content/home.asp) was suggested.
Professional Mel-the-Bell Simulator................"So realistic, I found myself reaching for the Kleenex King-Size!" - Richard Darling
It's been posted on css too (yes I do occasionally go in there).
I just had a thought. It would be nice if, rather than we all send seperate small donations, someone set up a special account (on Paypal perhaps) that we could all give money to. Then after a nice large amount was gathered, it would be given to the NACC on behalf of WoS collectively.

They give the money straight to the Charity, and they also claim the tax for UK tax payers, so in effect for each £10 donated they will give £11.94, after their costs and credti card charges etc.
I think people would prefer to give through this system, rather than collecting through someones personal paypal account.
As a giver you can add your name or just show a comment if need to be anon.

I hope that wherever you are you know that there are many people on this site gutted by your passing away and although probably most of us have never met you, they are thinking of you and your family.
We never met, but thanks to WOS I know who you are and I will miss your valuable input.
Reminds me, I'm making a speccy-based RPG game for the PC, and if I get to finish it, it'll be dedicated to the memory of Jim. I used a bit of his Gamestage humor too
I'm Jim's Mum and I can't tell you how much it means to me to see all the messages written about him, and the lovely tribute written by Daren. Today would have been his 33rd birthday, tomorrow is 3 months since he died, and I miss him terribly. Since discovering this thread, I've been looking back at his posts on this and other forums and it's been great. A lot of them have really made me smile. He liked having a rant in real life as well as on the internet! It took me a while to puzzle out what the references to "I am not Gamestage" meant but found out eventually. I knew he was interested in retro gaming but hadn't realised quite what a community he was part of.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the kind messages posted here.

What does everyone think?
Necros.
A great idea... along with a card to his mom with a listing of names and places of everyone contributing.
Write games in C using Z88DK and SP1
Your probably best to set up something on www.justgiving.com .

Direct link for this charity at just giving is at http://www.justgiving.com/charity/donate.asp?FRSId=13394
I made a donation to that charity via that link a few days ago - went smoothly - don't forget the Gift Aid! (if you're eligible).
RIP Jim.

ello jims mum, jim was a great and helpful guy (even if he did rant slightly)
sorry for your loss
Jim in full flow was a sight to behold...
I can only echo what Arjun wrote. My deepest sympathies, Sue.
I haven't come across the 20 page argument with retro soft - have you got a link to it? I can well imagine it!

it is a retrosoft rant tho :)
Yep, that's the one. He was on particularly fine form for that one!
And I'm another who echoes what Arjun wrote. Jim will be sadly missed. :-(
