Pinnabll MAME
Has anybody managed to get this working? I've downloaded the eumlator from this site http://www.vpforums.com/vptables/ but I can't get the bloody thing to work  As far as I can tell, I have the most recent version, but when I try and run a table, it say Asometing is missing from ActiveX and something about a different version of VPmame being needed. It's driving me nuts

1. VBS (visual basic script) files
2. VP (virtual pinball table design) files
(You can get those files from VP forums, but many tables needs an additional ROMSET to start. Which is NOT INCLUDED in the arcive for legal reasons.)
and
3. Table ROM SETS. (You can find rom sets from internet, many of them illegal, but some of them are legal, just like WOS, there are dedicated sites. Just use google. => Black Knight 2000 Rom Set)

And virtual pinball has two main component:
1.VP Editor (which you can design a table)
2.VisualPinMame (to execute and play tables.)
You can get those both for free. There is a compilation with easy installer here:
http://www.franken-online.de/server1771/Visual_Install_Pack_1.2.exe
That's what I'm using now, and it's doing fine.

Note: Some games at VpForums needs VBS files (in VP installation directory) in their app directory. I mean, you have to copy necessary vbs files to where table file resides. Easiest way to do this is to copy all vbs files to tables/<yourtable> directory.
if you want to help on specific table please name it. Some of the tables needs VB script modifications to work in newer VP.

Thanks for tip tho. it looks pretty nice. I'll check it for some other tables.
Chuntey?
Because it won't work with PinMAME?
Visual Pinball marries very well with PinMAME, with the result being that PinMAME emulates the pinball table dot matrix display and visual pinball simulates the pinball table itself. I don't think this can be done with Future Pinball.
you can reproduce almost same behaviour with scripting, but ofcourse VpinMAME emulates exactly same behaviour.
But in my opinion, both programs have different target.
Future Pinball aims creative hobbyist, and does not want to involve roms, or emulation etc. I just checked their forums and there are so many nice, brand new design.
Vpinball aims retrogamers who want to play their childhood again :)
Both programs has their own powerful sides, VP has rendering problems and slowdowns, FP has no rom support.
Tables I`d recommend :-
Back to the Future, really nice table, for some reason Michael J Fox`s voice isn`t used, but it`s got the Doc in it... really nice to play.
Baywatch, nice looking more modern table, little subgame in dotmatrix as well, theme tune inc
Cops and Robbers, grew up with this at local seaside cafe so love it... there`s two or three versions that are different, can`t get quite the exact one that I used to play... a holy grail.
edit, Cops `n Robebers is actually a Fruit Machine game, Doh !
Rocky, a real old 70`s shitty looking cheap table, with great sounds when you use the flippers.... old and simple, marvelous
That Doctor Who one looks amazing, couldn`t get it working properly last year, might have another bash... any of you know what a couple of 80`s ones could be...
One had almost the full song of Tequilla from 60`s, and would frquently use the sample "Tequeeeellaah", the other had the song Wipeout from 60`s, and would use the Wipeout! sample and then laugh at you when you lost a ball...
edit.. both games were around circa `89- `91
The Fruit Machine emulator`s too rock, found a few old classics for the emulators of them, even without the money thing, their still damn addictive :)
Last time I tried PinMame I had problems with choppy sound, even though my older machine had no problems with it. I'd probably switched from a SB Live! to an Audigy 2 during that time, but it's all very standard kit. I'll have to give it another go in the hope it's been fixed.
Si
Any ideas what is going wrong?
Classics from the 90s that I recommend (used to play the real ones loads): Attack from Mars, Medieval Madness. Lots of funny speech in them.
