No DLDI patched, it worked OK. There are only three drawbacks...
- Can I press some keys simultaneosly? For example, in Humphrey, pressing E-A-S-Y enabled infinite lives. A method would be to keep pressed L and then press some keys in the touch screen to emulate simultaneous presses (although I understand it's far better to have CS and SS in L and R).
- Are there a "reboot" option? Mainly to get out of ZXDS and back into the M3 menu without using the power switch. Maybe I haven't found the option.
- Some flickering. Mad Mix Game flickers, but it's something I've seen in other older emulators. May be related to screen emulation, but I don't know for sure...
Thanks for this great piece of software.
I was there, too
An' you know what they said?
Well, some of it was true!

unfortunatly you cant press two things at the same time on the touch screen. its the problem of the DS rather than the emulator.
Yes, I know. I was thinking on something like "keep pressed L, then press E, then press A, then press S, then press Y and then release L to get E, A, S and Y pressed simultaneously". (also, invert the keys pressed would help).

Not yet, but I intend to add support for sticky keys once the proper keyboard UI is added. There are quite a few games which need it.

Not yet, but it will be once the UI is added. The button controls are already overloaded as they are now, so it doesn't seem likely I'll stick this one in before that.

Yep, many games flicker, that's due to the screen being sampled only once per frame. I intend to change this to sample it once per line quite soon.
Yes, it's L+R+X+A+B, but It doesn't work. Now, I'm trying to remember if I enabled "Software reset" in ZXDS...
It seems to work only with commercial games. I haven't really checked, but I guess that it depends on patching the standard ARM7 code, so it doesn't work with homebrew.
Seems pretty good for 40 quid including a 2Gb SD card and card reader. But there are some other types listed as well, is it worth getting one of those or sticking with the R4?

yup ive got an R4, these lads on a DS forum reckon its the best. or at least they say the others are only slightly different, but not any better.
Just been to the computer fair at Wolverhampton tonight for something completely different and they were selling R4's on there own (boxed with the driver disc and USB stick card reader) for £19 and another guy had got them at £40 with a 2gig card "packed with over 300 games". Somebody else had the plus card and games as well but I didn't ask the price.
Being as I had just saved over £20 on what I was expecting to spend I treated myself to just the R4 on its own.
In one of my better acts of stupidity I forgot to get a blank micro SD card at the same time, so no card to try it with at the moment. I got mini and micro mixed up. :)
So it looks like a quick trip to Ebay or the Motorbike museum on Saturday then I might finally get a combination that will let me play a speccy emulator.

go for an R4 i say. :)
I read somewhere that the slot 1 devices do not play GBA ROMS, only DS ROMS. Aparantly only the slot 2 devices run both types of ROMS. Is this still the case?

Yes, that will always be the case, since GBA ROMS refer to slot-2 memory addresses. If you want to play GBA homebrew/ROMS on the NDS you'll need a slot-2 device. Note that cards such as Supercard (slot-2) are capable of running both NDS and GBA roms, and have additional advantages for homebrew, including extra memory.
For my ROM playing, I have an R4 with 2gb card, backed up by the EZFlash V 3-in-1. The 3-in-1 allows me to launch GBA ROM images directly from my R4 - I have about 60 GBA ROMs stored on the microSD card.
Only cost me a tenner from DealExtreme. Well worth it, but the postage delays are pretty long.

D.
The emulator is brilliant! And with the touch pad keyboard I can play text adventures on it. Great job Patrik!
