Manic Miner for the Gameboy Advance.

edited July 2007 in Games
I saw a modern remake of Manic Miner for the Gameboy advanced today.

It's basically the same give but with modern graphics.

I never knew this existed, has any one here played it, is it worth my buying??

Andrew.

Not unless you see it really cheap, you will very quickly prefer the original.

It doesn't save your scores or anything, and it is very subtly different but does have the original levels and some new ones.

Why not download it and try it out on an emulator first?

I have it. Its ok..it comes with 2 versions actually.

There is the classic Manic Miner and then the 'updated' one. The classic is pretty much exact copy of the speccy miner, the new one is different rooms but looks similar.

I played it a bit on an emulator, and hated it at first... couldn`t see what was going on very well, as they got these colourful trippy backgrounds, instead of all black.

Must admit, it grew on me, but only once I turned off the background layer... can`t remember if I did it using emulator, or if the game gives you the option.

Oh, and there was a thread about it a couple of years ago, I think started by zxbeccy, so that should tell you :)

Aah, Manic Miner GBA... that would be Gavin "Fuck Off Dickhead" Morgan, wouldn't it? A bit before WOS Forums' time I think, but believe me, he made Paul McKenna look like a true diplomat.

I downloaded it in 2005, played it in 2006, brought it back to the states with me on a disk full of GBA ROMs i burned here in 2005, at the end of 2006.

It's not bad but I wouldn't buy it, in fact I went off on it on the MM/JSW Yahoo Group when I was drunk one time.

However I read what I'd said about it, and thought I was a bit harsh, so I played it a little more, and a little longer all bad. So I went back online and retracted my ranting.

Some of the new rooms will give you a challenge for about an extra 10 mins, and you get passwords every few screens so you don't have to go from the start every time.
    Every night is curry night!
