I went back into a shop once and told them my change was wrong. They were quite rude when they told me I should have checked before I left the counter.
I was very happy to inform them they had given me ?5 too much. Same thing happened in a pub about 2 days later too!
Fogartylee, you're too honest for your own good, when that happens to me I'm outta there! DM, I hope you didn't get sacked today for watching Monster :???:
my workmate got sacked today (for continously smoking on company property - its not allowed at all now, he thought he was hiding)
so now im back on the acid copperline full time again :(

I broke a $10,000 piece of equipment, the robot technician said don't worry they won't fire you 2 people have already done the same thing this morning and 2 did it yesterday. But I'm a temp, so what better way to make an example for everyone else, than sacking the temp who fucked up last.
Shame though out of all the crappy jobs I'd done recently I actually liked this one, the people were normal for a change, and the money wasn't that bad :(

That robot technician sounds like he has some awesome AI going on there!
"Making an example"........ Nasty things. I hate that.
I once heard a true story about something that happened offshore on an oil rig.
Some company (US-based...say no more) was doing a job, but lotsa things went wrong. Failure of equipment was one of the causes.
The suit-and-tie guys at the oil-company that had hired these guys for this job, were of course mad because of the problems and the delay, which cost them a good amount of money.
The failure-haunted company were eager to escape disgrace, so they fired the guy who were the foreman at this mission. Then they sent a letter to the oil-company, stating that "we have taken steps to solve the problem".
Oh yes.. exemplary justice. My dad was a manager for a factory that was owned by Austrians. The Austrian management ordered him to randomly fire three people to set an example (I think there was some union disgruntlement at the time). Ah yes, the floggings shall continue until morale improves.
I know a couple of pilots who are captains for an Austrian owned airline. Their experience of Austrian management mirrors my Dad's experience.

The Americans are saints in comparison.
