And Action Biker is a lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot more fun on the C64 :D

Watching paint dry is a lot more fun than Action Biker (the Speccy version at least). :)

    You know, that's a great idea for a sub-title...

    What do you think, Merman?

    :)

You're all just jealous your computer isn't in the Guinness Book of Records ;)

If we are being serious about subtitles, I've been thinking of "25 Years of Glorious Gaming". I await your parodies/sarcasm/puns involving 16 colours...

Surprised at your response. Obviously Speccy is #1 to me but i love playing games on other platforms, there are of course games i prefer to play the C64 version of just like theres other games i prefer to play on MAME or NES etc.

With emulators i like discovering other games on different machines i might not have tried before.

Also supporting causes like this might mean if this is also a success more and more books will be created and possibly a Speccy II book at some stage. I'm sure if most C64 owners took your view then there would have been far less sales of the speccy book as i'm sure other people who might not have had a Speccy ordered it thankfully.

Apart from having the odd go on someone else's machine - and a PC game here or there - I have never really played any computer/arcade/console games than the Speccy. I tried a friend's C64 back in about 1984 when I stayed over one Summer but I didn't like it. I was games-complete with my Speccy. I am working my way through the massive Speccy back catalogue with no C64 inclination as yet. If that changes and I find one or two games worth playing then I will be first in the queue for this book as - going by the Speccy book - it will definitely be the best retrospective around.

Your subtitle should be "The computer that style forgot"
or "every page is a reason to buy a Spectrum"
or "As biege as Columbo's mac"
or"The book for those kids dissapointed on Christmas day"

I could go on for ages

I like what I've seen so far of the book, Andrew.

Just curious, will you be covering any other platforms when this one's out?

Dunno really... They're pretty expensive to do, and take a while to break even... I have vague ideas to do Nintendo and Sega 8 and 16 bit systems at some point, but nothing concrete.

A good subtitle could be "How to build graphics from cereal boxes" :D

Or "more colour, less gameplay" :p

Or hows about "Colourblind, red and yellow become brown" :D

Sadly the only C64 game I ever really played was Rags 2 Riches, I wandered around for hours picking up pennies and trying not to be a tramp anymore.

Strangely enough the game is shit, but something kept me playing it.

I had a short stint playing the game and watch style Mario Bros 2, that's quite fun but nothing special.

My main Commode disapppointment was Rimrunner the only commode game I really wanted to play. The Speccy version never happened and the C64 version was the next best thing. With the glorious age of emulation I DL'd Rimrunner and was thoroughly disgusted, it made me glad the Speccy version didn't happen.

I've never understood why people liked Rimrunner, it's like Palace put together unused bits and pieces lying around the office and chucked the result out as a "game". Totally mystified why it made Retro Gamer's top 10 C64 games in issue 1...
