Karingal?

edited September 2007 in Chit chat
I apologise immediately if anyone else has ever wondered or asked this?

I know now that on and off for years people have been assuming that your name points to the fact that you are a gal named Karin.

I know this is not the case, and that it is a place in Australia (not sure you see)?

I was just wondering how do you actually pronounce it?

Ka-rin-gal?

Ka-rin-jal?

karing-all?

kay-rin-gal?

kay-rin-jal?

Kay-ring-all?

Or non of the above?

This is weird. I had a swedish girlfriend named Karin..and the norwegian word GAL means CRAZY or WHACKO.
I stole it off a space ship.

Yes, Karin is a very common swedish name...perhaps it was her!

    Ka-rin-gal is the correct pronounication.

In hindsight I would have chosen a better username, but I was new to the internet at the time and I couldn't think of anything suitable (perhaps I should just have chosen Richard!!!) so I used the name of the place I was brought up when I lived in Australia. It's a part of Frankston which is in Victoria just outside of Melbourne.

Could have been worse I suppose, I could have chosen mel the bell...
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Shame that wasn't posted in the ZX Shed forum. I would have edited your reply to a more suitable answer (as far as I'm concerned :-P).

    Anyway, INFANTILE!!!

Karingal mentioned the origins of his name in an earlier thread in which he had a bit of an argument with 'Wheres That AY Chip Gone', and that's where I found out about it. That particular post was a personal favourite of mine, so I'll quote it again, just at the point where Karingal pulls the trigger:

"Use Google and check out 'karingal' I think you'll discover it's a town in Victoria, Australia. Some of us have lived interesting lives and travelled the world. One day you'll stray from mummy's apron strings perhaps.
Stop thinking so much, borrow your brothers porno mag and have a wank. You're 14 years old, you're supposed to spend 6 hours a day doing it."

    Still a classic :D

Yeah, he's not 15 like he claims.
