Speccy Tour 2007.

edited October 2007 in Games
Hi everyone.

Yes, its that time of the year again. The Speccy Tour 2007 is coming :)

To try and make the Tour more enjoyable for everyone, we have made a few changes this year. First we have cut the lenghts of the Tour down to 8 weeks instead of its usual 10 weeks. Besides that, you only have to submit a score for 8 of the 10 games to qualify for the final leaderboard.

The voting starts this coming Monday. The exact schedule looks like this:

Voting: 24/9 - 14/10 (3 Weeks)
Preparations: 15/10 - 21/10 (1 Week)
Speccy Tour 2007: 22/10 - 16/12 (8 Weeks)

So keep and eye on the official Speccy Tour section on HARP:

http://www.zxspectrum.homeactionreplay.org/tour/tindex.php

All further instructions on how to vote, and list of games that you can vote on will appear there sometime Sunday.

Finally, we the Speccy Tour team, hope that YOU wil sign up and play, supporting the only online Spectrum tournament there is out there :)

Hopefully (or should I say, that I'm sure) we'll see a lot of great recordings again this year, and I have a little hope someone can stop Aleksandar Lukic, and take the throne away from him. WE NEED A NEW WINNER, so come and join :)

Bye.

    Hi Frankie!

I'm thinking of entering this year... last time I entered was 2001, but got married mid-competition, which prevented me finishing! ;)

Looking forward to seeing the game choices and getting voting.

[EDIT] I've registered for the Tour... no going back now!

As I already told you some time ago, I think you can do a good job in the Tour. I look forward to seeing your recordings.

Don't worry, I also never believe in myself, but some serious playing, and you'll be surprised what you are capable of.

Have you played in the Tour before?

    Anyway, good luck.

Registered. I don't know how much time I'll be able to devote to it, but I think reducing the qualification criteria to 8 games is a great idea. Maybe I'll actually be able to qualify this year!

After having seen the list of potential games, I've decided not to enter this year, but will instead sit back and enjoy the recordings. There are just too many games that, personally, I would find playing a chore, rather than enjoying. That's very important to me, seeing as I don't get enough time to play my favourite Speccy games as it is!

Still, all the best to those that do enter - I shall be monitoring your progress with interest! :)

I'm sad to hear that. I was really looking forward to seeing your effort :(

Feel free to fill out the voting form, and just fill out the part of with suggestions on games for future Tours.

I'd like to encourage everybody to sign up to this year edition, we have shorted the tournament to 8 weeks instead of 12, so you won't need to waste so much time than in older editions.
Also you don't need to play all the games to get qualified (only 8 of ten), so if you don't like any of the games or categories you won't have to play on those.

OK ... my skull is thick and my brain is tiny ... so bear with me ... I see there are 60 games, do I choose which 10 I want to play but I only need to actually play 8 of the 10 chosen to qualify?

    Erm...

No man, there are 60 games, but you have to vote which of them will be part of the tournament. You can vote for one or two per cathegory. Once the voting is finished, there will be 10 games to play, and you will be able to choose 8 of those 10 games to get qualified.

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying that for me :-)

And for anyone who's interested, here's the list of games that were chosen.

    Platforms - Dynamite Dan
    Shoot'em ups - Penetrator
    Complex - All or Nothing
    Logic - Deflektor
    Sports - WS Basketball
    Racing - Full Throttle 2
    Maze - Cavelon
    Action - Tapper
    Small Skill - Muncher
    Small Shooter - Deathchase

Not a bad little list, although I was disappointed by a couple of the choices.

I suppose I'd better get practicing then...

Small Skill - Eric & The Floaters

I'm sorry, but finally Eric & The Floaters is out, and instead of it go in Muncher. It was my
fault that I missed some votes for Muncher... But we were two persons counting votes, so Alex told me there were an error. Four eyes is better than two :).

Well, I think it's a great list, maybe one of the best choices within all the tournaments we played before.
