Good Gameboy games

edited October 2007 in Chit chat
I just got a Gameboy emulator for my palm tungsten E2 and I was just wondering if anybody can recommend some really good Gameboy games to put on it?

It only emulates the original black and white gameboy, so recommendations of GBA or colour gameboy games aren't required. :)

Thanks in advance!

That all depends on what type of games you like Mick.

    I love the mono Gameboy.

    My favourites are...

Monster Max - Great mono isometric game by Jon Ritman and co !
Batman - Original game, just like Super Mario Land
Kwirk - Very good puzzle game
Nemesis 1 and 2 - Excellent shoot em up, same with R-Type
    Castlevania - All good games.
Dragons Lair - Promise me you'll try this, believe it or not its basically Rollercoaster (Speccy funfair game) for the GB !
Operation C (Contra) - Great version

    Some great games out there

I'm enjoying Asteroids right now. Really simple to play, a good conversion.

Also, go for the Galaga/Galaxian compilation - more mindless shooting fun, with a great rendition of the Galaga tune in the bonus round sections.

Qix is pretty addictive too with excellent controls - go for it!

Fist of the North Star......haha no just kidding DL this game only if you want to see how bad GB games can be :D

The Castlevania games on the GB are quite fun, but the ones on the GBA are much better.

Revenge of the gator, the tune is what kept me going whilst playing it (It's pinball).
    Dr. Mario.
    Tetris (come on you gotta).
Gameboy Colour version of Bomberman (it's a platformer istead of topdown view but still fun).
    Super Marioland.
    Kunio 1 and 2.
Double Dragon 1 and 2 (if you want to see what happened to Kunio when it hit Europe).
Navy Seals (although I prefer the Speccy version).

Can't think of any more at the min :)

I keep meaning to try that... I'm hoping they'll do a Wii virtual download for it.

EDIT: I also want to try RollerCoaster... I mean Dragon's Lair on the gameboy.

Its bizarre that game, i remember seeing it in a GB mag yearssss ago as i thought 'how on earth will they get that disney game on the Gameboy' and lo and behold its frickin Rollercoaster ! Had to buy it back then, funny what they did with that game. I presume the original version must have been a nightmare so they did a 'World cup carnival' and had to get a game out in time so just used an old game and somehow converted it. Bizarre

GB and Speccy use similar processors (cut down z80 on the gb)...

Converting the screen addressing must have been a nightmare.

I've got Pokemon Yellow edition for the original gameboy. Is that the one you're talking about?

Got Zelda - Link's Awakening too, but I'm currently stuck in the forest, looking for the next dungeon. Think I'll have to download the faq walkthrough from www.gamefaqs.com

kinda of, red and blue were the 2 original ones, yellow was the same game as them but with picachu following you about. they brought it out in reaction to the success of the franchise.

there is a good james bond game on the gameboy too, good rpg elements

Then unfortunately they brought out 20,000,000 other pokemon games, then Digimon, Yu-Gi-OH, Card Captors, and other shite like Naruto jumped on the band wagon and poisoned the video game market with 1000s of souless clones.

Bomb Jack for the original Gameboy is very good. It is my second favourite version of it after the Spectrum one.

Also, Mario Picross is a superbly addictive original Gameboy puzzle game.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

    Here's what I really like:

    1. Games like Zelda (i.e. RPGs) but without the turn-based combat systems that so many rpgs have nowadays.

    2. Puzzle games

If anybody can think of any games that fit into those categories I would be most grateful :)

Your ship-wrecked on a desert island, and have to escape, it's kind of a Harvest Moon type game without the farming. it's also called Survival kids, the DS sequel is called Lost in Blue

Never tried that unfortunately. Every Bombjack i've ever tried to get working always seems corrupt

Always wondered what "Survival Kids" was once I've finished pissing around with the regular GBs Younger but more advanced brother the GBA (probably in a few months), I may have to check this out I quite liked "Under a Harvest Moon" on the SNES but now that I think back I never finished it (might be a mission I have to embark on sometime soon:)).
