Speccy meeting on the 20th: hardware swaps?

edited October 2007 in Hardware
Anyone coming to the pub meet on the 20th bringing spares or dead machines to swap? I can bring my diags board along to try and help debug some dead ones if anyone wants.

Not bringing anything to swap, but I could bring some pre-assembled DivIDE boards if anyone is interested.

Speak up now and have the LED colours of YOUR choice :)

Bringing the Spectrum SE which is currently non-functional. If you feel like taking it away and fixing it that's cool with me.

Now THAT is an opportunity Mr W!

Just thinking about it, I have Speccy hardware that I no longer want. Things like wafadrives, a serial printer, multiface(s), videoface, that kinda thing. I'm willing to give them away for free (as I'd hope they'd go to a good home), or if there's more than one person interested you could bid for it.

I'll try and put a list together this weekend so people can see what I have to offer.

Well, he's one of the people it would be worth going to Oxford to meet, so as long as I can manage the transport, yeah, looks good to me.

Eeek! I am not worthy (etc!)

It'll be nice to see what the SE looks like in the flesh. What's wrong with it, incidentally? Won't boot?

Can anybody make use of a few dead machines, various faults?.

Haha, here's where the fun starts - lets start a book on this one. What do you reckon Mr W, first one to guess the fault gets a prize, a quid a guess? :D

Yes, of course! May even be able to return them fixed, if you want to take advantage of my "board replacement project", PM me :)

At the same time as hardware begging the Preservation Team Shop could always use any spare games anybody has hanging around.

Perhaps I ought to bring ALIAC-2 along plus its external nixie tube display, for curiosity value if anything else :-)

Before people get too carried away with plans to turn the pub into a repair shop, I should point out that I can't guarantee the availability of any power sockets there. But don't let that stop you bringing interesting hardware for the ooh-aah factor...

Nah, no worries, we'll bring our own generator and fuel it on bullshit gas from CD :)

Well, once all the world's oil is depleted, we could have an infinite supply of alternative fuel right there. I wonder what effect it would have on the ozone layer though... :D

Makes me wonder if the next meet should be somewhere bigger, so people can do this kind of thing. Bring spares, soldering iron, etc. and do "while you wait" repairs :)

If anyone has some +3 disks, or knows where I can get some from uber cheap, I'd be most interested. Especially if they can be brought along to the meet.

If anyone wants to have a look at any of the odd hardware in my collection let me know what it is and I will try and sort it out.

Its a bit messy due to ongoing hacking but all the photos should be on the web site.

Just so you know, I'm nothing to do with the RWAP outfit. I do not make DivIDE's for them or sell their goods.

I run papaya labs, which has nothing to do with RWAP at all. www.papayalabs.co.uk

I shall be at the meet and can bring assembled or kit form DivIDE's. I sell the fully assembled and tested DivIDE's for £25 and the kit form DivIDE's for £15.

If you're interested in buying one from me at the meet, PM me. I also sell CF card adaptors, which you can see on the shop on my site. Prices are there too.

I can offer a choice of LED's too if you which to have your DivIDE slightly customised.

Please note also, I sell DivIDE's, NOT DivIDE+'s.

I have 10 ready assembled units, they're ready NOW! I have kits for 99 DivIDE's if you wish to go down the kit route.
