Sounds like a quiet night if people already posting how it was :D

Quiet? Quiet?! Some of us are still here, I have a pint of beer in front of me.

Yes, the Harlequin was good. Someone set us up the bomb :-)

Far from quiet. I just had to leave early due to other commitments. Probably one of the biggest gatherings of Specchums for some time.

    Wheres the proof!.......lol:smile:

Give the people who stayed at Gasman's a chance to sober up and I'm sure some pictures will make it onto the web.

Indeed. I've just got home and will upload some pics/video soon. Oooh, my poor head :-p

Andrew - thanks for the games by the way!

Yup, 'twas a most successful meet. Quite a few surprising no-shows (where did you lot get to then? Didn't turn up at the Oxford Arms in Gloucester I hope...) but still one of the biggest get-togethers in a long while, plenty of new faces and definitely unsurpassed in the confusing-the-pub-regulars stakes.

Second best quote of the day, after "The bomb's working!": csmith, upon showing us the never-released, mostly-finished game he worked on back in the day in collaboration with Raf Cecco (can't remember the full story, hopefully he'll fill us in): "I didn't think anyone would be interested."

    :-o

    - yes, yes, don't all shout at once. You will get to see it shortly...

I was a no-show. Sorry folks. I got as far as putting my ZX Shed t-shirt on and was just about to leave when my ex turned up with the kids. She was on-call and had been called in.

I was hoping the patient would die so that she could finish early and I could still head off. Unfortunately he lived.

Wow! I wonder what the pub's regulars thought when the Harlequin appears on the table? Looks kinda fun though - could have one at Foggy's place next so he can look after the kids at the same time?

Some people who are missing from the pics I took include Winston, Icabod and ADJB. They may be on some of the vids I took, I'm gonna upload some shortly.

Damn! It looks like you peeps had quite a bit of fun, I must make more of an effort to get back to blighty next year (by which I mean save about 6 grand so I can actually afford to eat when I do go back). Hopefully it'll coincide with next years meet (highly unlikely).

This is the second pub we went to. I was ruined by this time, and can't even remember going there :-p

Can you put names to a few faces?

I know I should have been there, had wife issues...
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

I'm the big guy in the Stop! Sabre Time Knight Lore shirt if that helps.

Definitely a fine meet that one. Andrew Owen's Great Game Giveaway was the highlight for me. I've now got a copy of 4D Timegate again which was the second game I had for my Speccy back in '83. There was a copy of the first game I had going though, but I definitely didn't want that as that was Black Hole.

I'll add some comments to some of the flickr photos to say who's who, if I can remember their names.

Greets to all who turned up - hope fun was had by all. Special thanks to Scottie_uk for bringing Emily, coz Mrs.Bod was worried she'd be the only girl there after Jojo left.

And Daren... you prolly can't remember the second pub coz you were asleep at the time :)

As for me... I'm in a couple of the videos, making strange "eating" motions, and talking about Porcupine Tree.

I get the message 'This video is no longer available' on some of them.

Thanks for the pics and videos!
I'm now waiting for pics and videos of stuff done at Gasman's house.

Nothing much to report there. Winston, Gasman and myself got in, sat around for a bit and I staggered off to bed about 2am.

@Daren: What happened to some of the videos? It says 'We're sorry. This video is no longer available.' :-?

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, but not a lot of tech-talk. :)
If I go to a Speccy meet-up, I would like to talk about graphics, programming, demos, hardware, etc. I'm not sure if that's possible when inside a pub. :)

What about DEATH? I thought he would be there. :(
  • edited October 2007
It was a good night, I'm only sorry I could not have got their earlier. Looks like I missed all the real fun stuff.

Would have liked to have met all the others, I didn't get to speak to equinox much before he left neither :(. Still maybe they will come to the next one. I'm gunna try and make it.

It would be neat to meet up arround the christmas time. I'm gunna put one of them Devide boards on my christmas list, prolly buy it as a pressy for me.

    Andrew.

Well I did end up chatting to csmith about Life, the Universe, and Memory Contention on the Harlequin (aka Bomb).

I forgot my USB cable. I'll upload my photos when I get home and am reunited with it.

Well, the barmaid asked with some caution whether it was a bomb or not!
