Well, the barmaid asked with some caution whether it was a bomb or not!

Hehe, that was hilarious. Did anyone capture that on video?

@Daren: What happened to some of the videos? It says 'We're sorry. This video is no longer available.' :-?

I've no idea, they're working here ok. If you click the bottom right of the video to go to the actual Youtube/Google Video page, do they work then?

Hmm... wish I'd made it now...

I will definitely make the effort to attend the next one... I just hope there is a similarly high turn-out. It would suck to haul my arse across the pond only to sit in a pub by myself.

Maybe ex-pat bods can have a mini get-together in Atlanta... That's probably a good location as it's where every bloody flight connects to in this place anyway.

Indeed, it's Mr Organiser, the Gasman.

Actually I'll probably just buy another....the spine is coming away on mine. I thought it would when I first got it...because of the shape and a lot of weight on the small spine....anyone else reported that problem?

Maybe I have been 'thumbing' mine too much.

Yes, and was reported many moons ago. I have it stuck on with some superglue at the present. :)

Yeah... I got a few of those reported... I've mentioned it to the printer and they've been investigating...

Apparently a "very small number" were glued incorrectly :(

    Hmm...

That's Jon Hyde, aka the other half of YS3 (or other third if you count the penguin).

Don't think we had any *real* lurkers this time, although Daren did mention an incident at one of the Manchester CSS meets a few years back when a random bloke approached him at the bar and said he'd heard about the meet online and decided to turn up to see what it was all about. Never actually came up and introduced himself. Real life lurker! :-)

If anyone wants to own up to who they are, feel free, I'm terrible with names and may have got one or two wrong.

eeeeee by eck, a real English pub...complete with peeling paint on the walls.
  • edited October 2007
That's what I always found a bit... plastic... about the United States. They'd put these places up like Mexican restaurants with fake cracked plaster, or fake peeling paint. Go to the Med, and the restaurants have real cracked plaster. Go to a proper Real Ale pub in England and the paint is real peeling paint!

On the subject of wall-coverings - note the Ultimate-tribute blackboard decorations. We contemplated rubbing out the text on there and replacing it with "1 - Kempston. 2 - Interface II..."

Do you ever get the feeling there was something else you should have been doing Saturday afternoon rather than pandering to your wifes hissy fit?

If someone here in the U.S. plans a meet-up, I'm sure I can make it.

This 'something' is in fact a Nintendo DS running the latest version of Target; 2006. I'm the guy in the background, my face cunningly hidden by Eq's. (Didn't manage to avoid every picture, but I had a go! :D) And here's another picture of that Ultimate-tribute blackboard - perfect for 'shopping or planning your pub-going activities for the rest of the month.

Thanks again for the GBC, aowen! At last I'll be able to play the best version of Tetris again...

I'm not much of a planner but if someone does plan one it's more realistic that I'd be able to attend that one. Unfortunately I don't have any Speccy stuff I could bring with me in this country. I don't even have a laptop with some .Taps on it :D
