Hey Winston. I just read a great book about 2 kids that flew coast to coast in a Piper Cub they rebuilt back in the 60s

Not read it, although I've known of the book for a long time.

The Cessna 140 is of similar size/performance to a Piper Cub, except it has side by side seating, and I was alone for my journey.

Yes, as a kid, we did it in a right hand drive car, with a union flag on the side. :D Just for fun they'd put me in the passenger seat, not suprisingly really, Americans did a double take everytime we pulled in to a drive-through etc

We went from Maryland to Florida, down the east coast, and back up again, stopping at camp sites. Fantastic.

Why did we have a right-hand drive car? Diplomatic immunity. LOL uncle worked for the foreign office, and shipped his car over when he moved there.

One that might interest you THX1138, when I was a kid (18-19) I was going to take part in a 6 week trip across the Sahara on trail bikes. There was about 8 of us in conjunction with a popular Motorcycle magazine at the time (which one I don't remember), who was going to chart our progress and split it over a couple of months issues (I think It was near 2000 quid each which was a lot back then).

We were to have a land rover/range rover thingy with spare parts/wheels/gas and all that good stuff on it ....anyway about 3 months before it happened the guy who was the main organizer broke his leg badly in a crash so the trip was canceled :(

Still top of my 'damn, that would have been cool' list (well no...2nd on the list...the 2 sisters thing would still be top).

As a side note about 6 months later a couple I knew got shot and killed by guerrillas in Kenya while riding their bike from the southern tip of South Africa to the North.

I suppose if you swing by Indiana I could give you some of my booze :D

The wife has her dopey mates come over here all the time so she couldn't complain if I housed a WoSser for a night or 2 (and if she did she'd be feelin' me pimp slap ).
