Cyber Punks Unity are the cream at cafe '03
Jeezus - has anyone seen the last two CPU demos at Cafe 2003? (http://www.zxdemo.org).. These guys have got spacey & artistic demos down to a tee.. they could get in the Tate modern with this stuff..

Yeah I notice I use words like Spacey, Modern and Freaky for my descriptions - but that's what they are. They're not beautiful in a Binary Love kind of way, they're pretty cold and hypnotic.. love it!

Yerz IS Hy-Prgrm :)
are they that good? ill have to check them out.
Actually I'm afraid a bit, because (except old-school which I love) I like new-school demos for ZX.
But I like demos which can show new ZX possibilities. Yes, they should have good design, but to make demos only for some art vision of creators makes no sense on 8 bit computer, in my humble opinion.
People can make such things on 16bit and modern machines.
So when I see that the only good effect was multicolour-rotating-cube, I get to be afraid about future of Speccy demos.
just a thought anyway.
I do like to see the speccy pushed in a technical way, but I think its important to use the its capabilities creatively.
This is genuine underground minimalist avant guarde techno art and it rocks.
>I do like to see the speccy pushed in a technical way, but I think its important to use the >its capabilities creatively.
That's what I mean - they didn't use Speccy's capabilities at all.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but such monochrome demos could make people from ZX81 platform. And actually they could make it better, 'cause in better resolution.
>This is genuine underground minimalist avant guarde techno art and it rocks.
Well, I agree only with this part of sentence: "This is genuine underground minimalist avant guarde techno art".
I simply think that 8 bit computer isn't a good plaftorm for such things. But I said it before, so I will not repeat myself.
Anyway it's only my thoughts, that's all. Everybody has his own opinion of course, and I respect it.
Why I can write "Everybody has his own opinion of course, and I respect it" and other guy appears and say something like above statement, a suggestion delicate like steam-roller...
We make everything. Old-school demos for old-school fans (there are such ppl), joke-demos for joke-demos' fans (there are such ppl too), and new-school demos with interesing effects (I always admire Gasman's style) and new ideas.
Btw, I will always defend childish swearing, hehe. But it's in joke-demos, if somebody doesn't like it, just don't watch them, you will not be bored.
It's time for joke, for old-school, for new-school... Everyone watch what he likes.
Anyway I just said I'm concerned with this new trend in Speccy demos. Nothing more. And I STILL AM concerned. maybe they will be better in future, maybe even great.
But "Dies Irae" demo shows how to mix good coding with great design and cool ideas. And new demos are not as good as mentioned prog, even in a half.
And private malicious statements will not change it.
Childish swearer,
Yerzmyey
Don't take it personal, Yerz. It was a remark in general I made about the demo scene. Hooy programs are not all like that. I quite liked Losing Victoria and Pond Life. :)

They suck!!
That's why I like them. ;)
But anyway I don't say that alternative art on demo-scene is bad. No, no.
I, of course, don't have this information first hand, so anyone feel free to prove me wrong..
but about me, I always say: I'm old bastard, almost 30 years old, I'm a holder of university degree and quite well known musician in my country. :)
And I feel I'm getting old. Hehehe. So I do everything to make myself feel younger, hehhe. :)
Therefore I make stupid demos quite often, and I make idiotic Spectrum parties in my home (such a meeting will be next week, even Gasman will come here from UK :) :) :) ).
Greetz.
