Is there any incompatibility with Hysteria and +2A models?

Well, that's basically it :)

Thanks in advance

There shouldn't be. I've just noticed that one of the TAP and TZX files 'die' straight away when running in SPIN when in +2A mode (but the other files work fine). And I'm not sure why there are are 2 'versions' released anyway (A YEAR AFTER MIX and THALBERT DOCK MIX). They are correct in that each major build had a unique 'ID' (usually starting with CAKE MIX and changing with each bug fix) and I'm guessing that 'A YEAR AFTER MIX' was done specially for budget, though I have no recollection of this. Software Projects would have gained from the budget sales - FX got nothing, as far as I'm aware!

    Hey Jonathan!!

What you say its exactly what happens to my copy of Hysteria, when it finishes loading, the game crashes or something and the csreen turns completely black... :(

I love Hysteria, it's one of my favorite games. Great game play, excellent smooth scrolling, great sound and design... In my eyes it's masterpiece. Maybe it could have been even better on 128k, with 2nd videoram, more gfx, sound...

In fact, I was always disappointed with SOTB on ZX, Gremlin's port (spider soft?) is rather poor. If the game would be ported with Hysteria's engine, it would be much much better.

I found this +2A/+3 fixed version which may be of use:

If you want to get an original version working then all you have to do (providing you have a version that uses the standard Spectrum loader -- if it has a custom loader than you're out of luck for the moment) is MERGE the BASIC loader, add POKE 44454,59 just before the RANDOMIZE USR statement and that should do the trick.

I just watched the RZX of this game and I was just wondering about the ending of it. There are two things I noticed:
    1. Hint of THGTTG (or am I way wrong here?)
[strike]2. Erm ... the game just seems to hang there, i.e. the last message
"...last moment of your mission and..."
Well ... is there something more to the message? It doesn't go to a second page nor does pressing any buttons work.[/strike] Never mind ... I must have a crappy keyboard ... pressing SPACE seems to work.

    :-?

Yes Skarpo, I think there is a bit of Hitchhikers in the message! All that stuff was done by Tony Pomfret, the Commodore 64 coder. I felt it was all a bit tacky!

So it's doing the old trick of using the ROM as an IM2 lookup table?

I guess it must do! It's so long ago that I just can't remember!
