It's like goldy or steely...
...but is made of iron.
I wonder if Morrissey saw the doublethink in his position on immigration... how immigration into Britain is so terrible, yet he emigrated to Italy ... and is even now diluting the Italian identity in the same way he whines about immigrants to Britain.
Oh the irony! It's OK for him to be an immigrant, but not OK for others, I suppose!

There's obviusly a bit of Succ?s de scandale happening here, as people are now talking about him again.
From what I can gather he didn't say "immigration is terrible" so much as that he thinks "Englishness" is disappearing, almost as though the country doesn't want an identity. He mentions something about going to other countries that have large immigrant populations "but they still feel like Germany or Sweden". The impression I get is that he thinks the English identity is weak and when other "identities" move in they inevitably crowd it out, not because they're bad or evil but because they're overcoming an antipathetic "native" culture.
He's talking complete bollocks imho, incidentally, Britain has a very distinct "feel" that is unquestionably still there and I think he's simply romanticising his home country and being irritated about the fact that it doesn't live up to his daydreamy image (warm beer and all that stuff, probably) but that's not the same as saying "I don't want foreigners coming here".
Erm, he's recently had two successful albums.
