I asked my cousin to become a member of these forums. He says he registered but can't reply to threads. Is Martjin doing something else to approve accounts, besides the confirmation e-mail?
There are 2 mails to be received by the registrant:
- "Please follow this link to confirm your subscription request", and
- "Welcome, you have been approved" (or "Begone, spamming fiend").
The first one is automatic, the second one requires manually clicking 'approve' (or 'deny') buttons, and hence my being there. :-)
I just approved the only outstanding subscription request; hopefully that was your cousin's...
Thank you! My cousin used to code a lot in m.c., and I finally got him to join the forum (even though he doesn't have a lot of time available). I hope he feels the warmth of this place. :)
I already felt the "warmth" ;)
Yes, I'm the cousin.
And all this warmth talk reminded me of a summer when I was teaching a BASIC programming course. A couple of kinds (smart asses) always wanted to stay ahead of the rest of the class and, one day, decided to plug all the equipment themselves, even after being told over and over that only the "staff" was allowed to do that.
Suddenly, I heard a muffled "bam!" and instantly felt a smell of burned plastic. A thin white mist of smoke was coming out a Spectrum, from the expansion port (the one where we could plug the Interface 1). It was clear that that Spectrum had gone to Hardware Heaven.
What have they done?
They simply had plugged a 24V transformer (from a printer) to the Spectrum (that required a 9V input). The wire, terminal and transformer case was absolutely identical to the one required by the Spectrum so it was an "honest" mistake. But they had to pay for the damage, even so :)
Alright there Rui, I'm sure Bruno has guided a few of us to your website before. I can't remember if it was Speccy related but I'm sure I've followed one of Brunos links to something you've done or hosted before.

Just realized I mistyped the title :P...
Or Mel's big pile of freshly emptied ferrets...
I thought it was a bit whiffy in the Chit chat forum lately... No wonder.

My site is quite easy to remember:
www.ruimac.com
It can't be easier than that ;)
But the work that its displayed there is very outdated. I just haven't had the time to update it.
