Speccy Public Domain Libraries

edited December 2007 in Chit chat
Does anybody remember Speccy Public Domain Libraries?

Does anybody know of any websites that have online repositories of speccy public domain software?

I used to use a public domain library years ago. Some of the software in it was quite good. You used to send off for a list of software, which usually came on a single sheet, printed off a bbc micro word processor. Then you send back a blank c90 along with return postage and a list of the title you wanted.

Ah, the good old days.

I think it would be a shame to lose some of those good programs. Does anybody have any idea where I could find some speccy public domain software?

I used to use Prism PD, and even added some of my utilities to their collection. I generally used it to get hold of demos, coz that's where my interest lies. I even wrote for their fanzine, tho' was a little annoyed when articles I didn't write appeared under my name. Ho-hum, that's the price of fame I guess *cough*.

I used to run Alchemist PD many years ago. I started it from my small collection of telesoftware downloaded from Prestel and Micronet 800.

I didn't have a printer to start with so the catalogue was a Tasword file. Then I got a beast of a printer - a daisywheel Brother HR-15 which used to spool off catalogues for hours!

Why is there always one who never bothers to read signatures.

Since Dekh has been so kind and pointed Mick to my web site, I can put the sythe away until next I'm called for.

I could go on for a while explaining the origins of Alchemist Software and the recent move to it's now permanent home, but I won't bother, nobody will read it :D

Icabod, you wrote fro Prism? I guess SOMEDODY had to. I used to write for AlchNews, and Andy woud distribute it for free. Andy never once made a profit.
    Oh bugger!<br>

Yay for digging up 10 year old rivalries that were meaningless and petty even back then! :-D

That goes back 25 years. And the C64 wasn't crap you could hurt someone a lot more by hitting them with a C64 than with a Speccy.
