About a 'Reversi' version

Using Infoseek I discovered that there's an unknown version of Reversi (unknown year, publisher and publication). The screenshot shows a screen very similar to the Phipps Associates version (the first in german or dutch, the second in english). Maybe are they the same game? :???:

As the "unknown" version has pretty much the same code as the Phipps version, except for the text being in a different language and the line 2 copyright notice being removed, I'd say that it was a pirate translation of the Phipps version.

I'd also point out that the Phipps Infoseek page has advert links to a version published by Chapman and Beckingham Software, which is probably the wrong place for them. I'll look up the adverts to see if they have any more info.

I think that the Phipps / Chapman and Beckingham incongruity is just a result of the way Infoseek works. It seems that if a product only has advert links and no product entry in the main database then the adverts will be shown on any page which has a matching product name. I expect that this will be resolved when the SPEX adverts work is finished and all the extra MIAs are given full database entries.

The C&BS adverts are small classifieds placed from a residential address, so nothing to do with Phipps. C&BS advertised five games but there's only four listed on WoS; I seem to have missed out Squirm; I'll correct that in the next update. It's lucky that you spotted the other mistake, otherwise I would never have noticed mine!

Indeed, so it has been removed (we don't like hacks).

"Yes" on all of your assertions. :-)

Squirm is actually listed in SPEX, but without type (genre or machine), so it doesn't show up if you search for Spectrum software only...

Chapman and Beckingham's game Adventure 1 was for the 48k Spectrum; the other four were for the 16k Spectrum. From its title I'd guess that Squirm is a snake-type game, so I've set its type to Arcade: Action. There's no description in the adverts to confirm this, however.
