Spitfire Durell
Martijn,
Looks like the Encore release should be considered the original seeing as the inlay states that it was previously unreleased...
The "original" tzx file was dumped back in 2001, just as the tzx vault was starting off, so it's possibly been mis-labelled...
I'll check my original Encore tape asap to check..

However checking the TZXs closer in Tapir it seems that Side A and B
are different and differ in length. That said this doesn't show in Taper
as them being different lengths. Maybe they decoded incorrectly but came out with a correct checksum, or a bug in Tapir ? Seems to be 3 bytes bigger on side A than side B.
I've dug out my tape and of course seen the inlay on WoS and it does say on the inlay "Previously Un-Release Game !" which corresponds to what Steve is saying.
I've got the tape handy so I'll redump both sides and compare them, it's no trouble.
Cheers

However in inlay is also cropped, so is there an association to be made between Alternative Software and Again Again, or is it indeed on the Again Again
label ?
Tony has it on his site. Tony can you expand on this ?:

Side A of the Encore TZX on WoS matches the Side A that I just dumped and of course Side A of the 'original' we have.
Also note that the Encore release actually has the usual Durrell text on the tape spool.
What may have happened is that Durrell never got around to releasing Spitfire for whatever reason and so it was ONLY released on the Encore label.
....
In fact checking out the mag links you can see this is extacly what happened.

"Elite went and snaffled both Durell's new games: Chain Reaction and Spitire.
Elite doesn't know when or who it's going to release ......."

There's a preview shown at the above link, slated to be released in November, but it may not
have happened, perhaps they deemed the price of ?9.95 too much ?

Spitfire is a previously unreleased game on the Encore label ......
To conclude, Steve was right that this title was never released on the Durrell Label, so we could set the 'Original price' as 'Never' if that is possible, and put a remark to indicate how it was released further down.
The above mag links all point to previews in 1987, however there weren't any actual reviews until 1989 when it was finally released on the Encore label.
We need to remove the file:
ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/games/s/Spitfire(Encore).tzx.zip
and keep this one, maybe rename it to Encore if appropriate:
ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/games/s/Spitfire.tzx.zip
Cheers
