Fsck, I liked his work... Knight's Tale is one of my favourite movies...

    Drug overdose. *sigh*

    That's a damned shame.

Not wanting to sound heartless or anything, but I hope he filmed all his scenes for The Dark Knight without the need for reshoots!

The poor sod. Well he was quite rich at the time I assume, but still, a tad untimely and unfortunate is his passing.

I seldom get shocked by stars dying but I thought he was a pretty clean living one and seemed pretty level headed...oh well..no brokeback mountain II I guess....sorry miles i know that was a favorite of yours.

How long I wonder before the sick jokes thread gets updated for Heath. Start the clock ....

This is crazy, my wife told ma about it not long after I'd woke up (about an hour ago, I'm keeping my body on nightshift even when I'm off work). A drug overdose is kind of sad, but from what I heard it wasn't narcotics, it was over the counter sleepers or pain killers.

Still pretty bad stuff, especially that young (I always thought Heath Ledger would've been older than me, he was a year younger).

i was watching film 2008. and the anouncer said, 'this episode was filmed before heath ledgers death' which was a bit of a shock. i had to look it up on teletext.

hopefully dark knight will be a suitable end. (acting wise)

I hear the missing scenes will be made up with leftovers from brokeback mountain. The film is also being renamed 'batty man'.

actually celeb deaths never shock me or make me that sad (well Robert Palmer and Kurt Cobain did...oh and Barry White!).

but I was really sad about Heath Ledger... maybe because he was the same age I am...and also he was a really fine actor...a shame really...

(on a cold note, Terry Gilliam must be the most unlucky director alive...always something completely bizarre happens when he's filming...)

It was quite a shock when I found out about it this morning. I remember when A Knight's Tale came out and Ledger was being touted as a new heart-throb. That didn't really happen and it looked like he was going to be an also-ran and then, in the last few years, he started showing up in critically-acclaimed roles and films like Brokeback Mountain and his star was definitely on the rise but with him as a serious actor rather than some teen idol. It looked like he was going to be the next Johnny Depp but instead he's become the next River Phoenix or James Dean. Real shame.

It looks like his scenes for The Dark Knight were finished but he was working on a new Terry Gilliam film when he died so I'm not sure if that will be cancelled or recast or if enough of his scenes were complete.

Forgive my pedantry but "narcotics" doesn't mean "illegal drugs"; it's a specific type of drug, one that causes numbness or sleepiness (usually opiates). The confusion comes from US law-enforcement using the term "narcotic" for any illegal drug even though this is scientifically incorrect. ;)

If it turns out to be an overdose of sleeping pills..how exactly do you 'accidentally' OD....You need A LOT of sleeping pills to OD and so an 'accident' is unlikely to happen.

Either your tried to top yourself or you were very stupid..either way is not an 'accident'..it was a choice he/you/they make to take that many.

It does if you're trying to ship them from Riedquat to Lave, though.

Prescription sleeping pills affect your body (and heart) more than your average Nytol. I can quite believe a double-dose could have severe side-effects, including death,

Maybe, I'm no expert. I had a friend in England who tried to top themselves with prescription sleeping pills...took 30+ but only got a screwed up liver for the trouble.

Will be interesting to see the results.

and he hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it

...so then god hates these guys as them protesting it means they have something to do with it.

Quite right - most people aren't aware just how harmful sleeping pills can be.

It could well have been an accident - didn't Bruce Lee die due to a reaction to common aspirin (and yes, I'm aware of all the other theories).
