The WOS FAQ?

edited January 2008 in Chit chat
What happened to that WOS FAQ someone was talking about writing, where there'd be a brief summary of WOS regulars (who didn't object)? CSS has one, and the WOS crowd are generally much better than they are, so why not?

I want to find out if Starglider really does exist, or if it's just an open account for anyone to post into whenever they feel like posting anything daft :-P

aren't stuff like that really pretentious.

on one hand it can be handy for a newcomer to see whats what. but on the other it makes wos look very elitist, and might scare people away from joining, or at least contributing. its like when you go to a party and everyone knows each other else and you feel about as welcome as porky pig in mecca.

You should stop going to your family parties.

    ha ha very good.

my point was that it can be intimidating. also like your story ewgf you will get people angry at being missed off the list and they may think fu*k it, if wos doens't want me i dont want them.

    just a thought. :)

I thought people would be glad to not be included in my so-bad-it's-not-much-better-than-an-episode-of-Torchwood-to-be-honest scribblings? Shame, I was hoping you and the rest would pay me not to include you again.

    I was gonna be rich...

if you include me, I'd like to be an evil genius inventor please.
but not an inept one mind, and when I slowly lower you into a tank of sharks, or a vat of acid, I'm not the sort of person who makes the mistake of going off and leaving an inept goon to supervise your downfall. I stay to watch BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

    *ahem*

Yes, and I want to be portrayed as some sort of insane criminal mastermind, stroking a white cat sitting on my lap...

It'd be interesting to see how similar or different from real life your portrayal would be, based on what little you know about me from the forums. But if you get it wrong then I'd have no choice but to come and firebomb your house

Well, really I think only notable people should be included...

So thats er... me... and er... me..

And maybe that Martin Hide fella... but I don't know about that...

    Definitely me though.

You're already in it ( http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18828 ). Go and read it (and thereby double it's reading base).

What's wrong with Torchwood? If they've managed to get James Marsters to appear, and Tony Head's been in Dr. Who, surely it's only a matter of time before Alyson 'Vampire Willow' Hannigan makes an appearance, and then all us old time CSSers will be tickled pink. ;)

    Mmmmm, Vampire Willow[1]

I've noticed that you seem to have some sort of grudge against StarGlider - this isn't the first time you've taken a childish swipe at him. Is there some history to this? Your continued crusade against him is something that could go into the WOS Folklore FAQ if it's sufficiently entertaining :-)

    D.

[1] The Folklore CSS Folklore FAQ appears to be down atm, but it's from there.

No, no grudge, it's just an attempt at humour against someone who takes it well, I do the same with other people, such as AOwen, Martijn and anyone else who doesn't mind being laughed at (and Paul McKenna, who's perhaps not so jolly). Life's crap, so you have to laugh, or else go mad at the pointless cruelty and insanity of it all.

I won't joke at your expense though, in case I ever need hospital surgery and you're on duty there - you might write "patient wants a sex change" on my medical notes, or tell the other nurses that I'm the Labour MP who blocked their pay rises. Or if the hospital is understaffed that day you might get a half-blind porter to operate on me, instead of one of the healthier porters.

Aye, it could come off as a bit elitist. If people really want to know more about someone, we've got profiles, and we can have sigs and things.

Although... A sort of 'who's who' board with anonymous comments about each person could be quite entertaining. (Also quite open to abuse, but there you go. Maybe a voting system could be used on each comment to get rid of the untrue/unpopular opinions.)
