So how are our boys going to fair under the new management? Any score predictions?

I was gonna go watch USA vs Mexico tonight as they are playing here in town. Don't know anyone else here who likes football though and I wasn't going on my own like a saddo.

16-0 to the 3 Lions side, with Switzerland's goalkeeper being devoured by a dog with rabies. Star striker Owen Michaels to score a treble hat-trick. Much Toblerlone to be consumed by the visiting side's fans during the third quarter time-out.

All in all an entertaining evening's Soccer Ball.

Should do well against Switzerland, be interesting to see how the new regime do though. I'm just happy Stevie Mac has gone. Shame Beckham wont get his 100th and he didnt choose Readings Dave Kitson (biased opinion there by me !) but should be good to see i hope

Indeed, gave away a penalty too. As Wrighty said if we cant make it with Capello, then theres something seriously wrong with English football.

I thought 2nd half was much better, Fabio must've given them a right talking to.

Promising start to the Capello era. I liked the way they played the ball around to create openings. Nice first goal superb wing play from Joe Cole, put the Swiss defender on his arse and a good finish from JJ. Ironically the second goal was very 'english', with the ball pumped down the field onto Crouch's head, can't complain though, SWP couldn't miss.

I forward to the defence being tightened up, very unsure about Upson and Rio looked half a yard off at times, especially for the goal.

David James is not the answer and I fully expect Paul Robinson to regain his Spurs and England places. Ramos will make him work for the Spurs keeper jersey and PR will be under no illusion of the required standard, which can only be good news for England.

On the whole a good start and I suspect it will only improve.

was a decent match, better in the second half mind.

joe cole was busy and showed his skill
stevie G was giving them headaches too.
and rooney was electric...he was dying to score, it just didnt quite fall right for him.

i wasnt 100% convonced with bentleys crosses, bit more wayward than beckhams pinpoint crosses and corners etc tbh

Definitely agree on that point. They really went overboard on his performance on the BBC but I couldn't see why. He deliver one or two telling crosses but rarely failed to beat his man and lost the ball far too often. He gave the team no more than Beckham would give and his final ball kacks the gilt-edged quality of a Beckham cross. We also missed Beckham for freekicks outside the penalty area. No adequate replacement for him there either.
