Strange firefox panel

edited March 2008 in Chit chat
I freshly installed the newest Firefox, aaand I'm wondering where this little annoying panel came from and how to get it away from my screen.
Any hints?

Which panel? Do you mean the toolbar with "Getting started..." on it - in which case I think that's the bookmarks bar (use the Bookmarks menu to configure it), or the panel below that with the jigsaw piece on?

If you are talking about the "jigsaw" panel, that's firefox telling you that you need a plugin installed. Couldn't tell you what though from that pic.

Yup, I mean the jigsaw panel. I have no idea what it wants from me, cuz I had never seen it on my previous Firefox, and I installed all flash, shockwave and JAVA needed

Strangely enough, I recovered my old firefox profile settings from a backup, and that panel disappeared. Yaaaaay :)

Errr...Those were my sister's "tempoprary" bookmarks. Mine look like this. I've got nothing to hide ;)

Hmm, considering the position of the jigsaw piece, I'd have said that it's an extension that requires some kind of plugin. I say that as the panel with the jigsaw appears above the tabs, meaning it's probably playing around with the Chrome part of Firefox (Chrome is the interface, essentially). For example, something which gives an new toolbar (the Google plugin does this, as do many others).

As you've replaced your profile and it's no longer there I shouldn't worry too much. However if you see it again check the "Add-ons" on the tools menu of Firefox and let us know what's listed (and if anything is disabled). It may hint at what's wrong.
