need help with Dragon Spirit

I bought dragon spirit off ebay a coupla' days ago and everytime I load it it won't let me change the control method, it says press 4 for redefine but doesn't register when i press 4 (or any other button for that matter, other than the default keyboard fire button) my brother reckons this used to happen to him in some games when he was a kid too, is there a reason for it or is the game just badly coded?

    Sinclair Spectrum 48k, what makes matters worse, is that the default keys which cannot be changed are awful (I have to fire with my left hand ring finger, my fingers are aching like hell!:evil: )

    BTW my brother has been moaning at me to tell you that your games were his favourites when he was a kid :)

    well...I've worked out what the problem is, sometime in the last 2-3 weeks somehow my 1,2,3,4 and 5 keys have ALL BROKEN :-x

    Theres someone at the forum who can fix that problem, they replace the keyboard membrane or something, hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.

    At least you know what the problem is and its not a case of you going mad then !

    I'm not sure if it's a problem with the keys exactly, 30 minutes after posting that, I was hitting every key one after the other and suddenly they started working again, they literally went from nothing at all no matter how hard I pressed them, to easily working with a slight touch, dragon spirit works perfectly now, I just pray it doesn't happen permanently next time :-o

    Yeh either moisture from it being in storage or years of congealed sweat breaking the connection. You wouldn't believe the state of some of my SNES pads after over 15 years of use without a clean inside.

    Speaking of Dragon Spirit I also need help with it, but another help :)

    Anybody is able to load the last 8th level?

    Here is the end of Level 7. You must first load Dragon Spirit tape into emulator, then load the given snapshot . However it doesn't work. Spectrum asks to play tape, searches all the levels, even finds Level 8 and types about it but doesn't load it. Am I doing something wrong?

    the key problem has happened to me many, many times since that last post, everytime it happens i just hold the speccy upright and put it back down and they start working again
