Faster Tape Loading

edited November 2003 in Sinclair Miscellaneous
The programme on this site claims to be able to load Oric Tap files ten times faster than normal on a real Oric machine. Does anybody know if this really works and if a similar programme has or could be written for the Spectrum?

I remember some trurbo modes of tape-loading for ZX, but I can't remember any details.

    Kwikload.

There's also a program by Busysoft which does something similar (BS-LOAD, I think).

I got a Sprint Tape deck, which is four or five times faster than a normal tape recorder. And it works well together connected with +D, but fails to work with custom loaders. But this is a hardware solution. Software speedloaders on the other side are not recommended.
If you want to load a tape file really fast, copy them to disc. MB02 uses Tape syntax and is unbeatable at 40 kb/s

It is from a CD though.... 24,000 BAUD on an Oric audio cassette would be pushing it :)

Codemasters did a 30 games on 1 CD package once...
