Just came back from a stag do in Tallinn where one of our mates is Depeche Mode mad so was happy as larry when i told him there was a Depeche Mode bar there.

We went there, was alright, a few 80's looking people doing funny dancing but i must admit i'm listening to a few of their songs now as its bringing back good memories of the weekend just gone

you had a good time i take it then. did you go to a brothel? if so you should give your old man a lucozade bath before letting your missus touch it.

true, that era has gone now. I actually don't mind some of the new 'loud' stuff (check out hazard - machete: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNolts95GE0 )...friend of a friend used to work for bukem's good lookin' label a while back. I think he still puts stuff out.

The new (final) Deicide album - Till Death Us Do Part (oh the irony) It looks like after 20 years of God bothering mayhem, Glen Benton has decided (Deicided) to give it all up for a home life!

The album rock's by the way :D

    NIN - Ghosts I-IV

    Well I-II so far.

It's okay but Eno did it better 30 years ago in Music for airports. Sylvian/Fripp did it better 15 years ago with The First Day.

    IMHO

<edit>And Trent probably did it better himself on the Quake soundtrack :) </edit>

    Damn!

The Stench of Redemption was brilliant. Showed that there was new life in Deicide after the brothers left (I can't even remember their names at the moment). I hoped that there would be a few albums out now that they're back on form.

    Bugger.

You're right. Stench was a fantastic album and it really showed what a great song writer like Steive could do as he didn't have to put up with the "limitations" (thery are both far better than I will ever be!) of the hoffman brothers. Steve has said that there "could" be another album and tour, but it all rests on Glen and at the moment, he's staying at home. Shame as there could be shit hot live :D

Currently listening to Carcass - Necroticism: Descanting The Insalubrious re-issue. I'd forgotten how good this album was as I've only ever had this on vinyl until yesterday!

I was also listening to that yesterday and have to agree that the Quake soundtrack was way better and more "unique" ... Ghosts offers nothing spectacularly new nor technically interesting (imho) ... I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy it, I'm just saying that it wasn't anything spectacular. Too samey and overall rather dull. Doesn't mean I shan't listen to his next CD :-P

I originally thought the same, but Ghosts has grown on me since then.

Quake is far superior though. But he did have inspiration to draw from and something to conform to, Ghosts was basically just a jamming session.

Have you heard the new song Discipline? Sounds more like With Teeth stuff again.

The video on youtube for it is hilarious. Here. It's not official as far as I know, but Trent did post it on the front page of nin.com so it's got his blessing.

The one that annoyed me the most was "Why do cornflakes go soggy", and after millions wasted on so called research the conclusion was "Because the milk makes them go soggy".

The money wasted could've been used for a lot of worthwhile things.

While cooking dinner this evening, I was listening to King Crimson's In the Court Of the Crimson King until the Kiwi GF asked "What's this shit?". I suggested she may like to choose something more suitable for her ear... she then played Jeff Beck's Truth and thought that was shit as well... nevermind. We finally settled on The Stone Roses (yay!)

kind of agree, Somewhere... is a bit too synthy and droney, but 7th Son is their best one IMO (even tho' it's equally synth driven ?!?). never got into the Blaze Bailey era of maiden even though Wolfsbane are totsaly awesome...he should have stayed with them
