IPod is still in stoner mode: QOTSA - Songs For The Deaf demos. Liked the album?... this is a great listen. Has an "album-like" mix of No One Knows, but wait! - there's a wind AND brass section on the chorus and middle eight...

Oh, and check this out for [what I think is] the vinyl [only] version of The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died... it's quite jangly

I'm on to Weezer : Maladroit now. The opening Track "American Gigolo" seems to borrow a few bars from the drum track of XTC's Making Plans For Nigel - it's all down to the phased hi-hats :)

I think Take Control borrows a T-Rex guitar riff (although I could be mistaken). Still, good band, good album.

Listening to: Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle
Current track: The Girls Of Porn

Can't stop listening to this album now, I've caught the Bungle-bug!! :D

    The Flobots - Handlebars

I thought these were a bunch of nob head indy kids rapping but this tune pretty meaningful. The vid is very 1984 towards the end.

Me and Duggie Burns went to see the 'Beastie Boys' live in Liverpool and it ended in a riot! Dug (Ping Pong) Burns got his face slapped by the 'pigs' whom where on horseback! Got on the news and everything!

    "They provoked a near-riot in Liverpool…
“After all the dates on that British tour had been sold out, they added a Liverpool date that attracted all these people who just wanted to riot,” Yauch says. “Beer bottles were flying off the balcony before we came on.” Horovitz: “They were singing football chants that were louder than our songs!”"

"…And Adrock got tossed in two different slammers.
After the disastrous May 30, 1987, Liverpool concert, a girl claimed that Horovitz had batted a flying can at her head. He was arrested. “Talk about a bad gig,” he says. “I was jailed in London; then they took me up to Liverpool for a couple of nights. They had me in a cell with this old, old Irish guy who was cursing out the cops.”"

Yeah! We know how to party!

i saw em in birmingham...mustve been that tour (around 87 / 88) was with run dmc...brilliant gig

i have that...and his ladys bridge one
as i come from sheffield....and know those places, i also used to know a couple of his old band the longpigs.......sadly his musics not really my style tbh, i cant really get into it...sounds too sort of countryish and old 50s crooner stylee.

for a sheffield singer songwriter try jody wildgoose (sketchbook records) hes just recording his 3rd album, i have the first too, i used to know him back in the 90s when he was in local band the various vegetables and was also busking in subways when he was about 12/13
his musics very influenced by the likes of pink floyd, butthole surfers, mudhoney....very strange, sometimes noisy, sometimes trippy, very different

i like the first song on his myspace player...pop music

I've started to mellow out in my old age and I found Lady's Bridge to be great to help me get through my break up at the start of the year. The cover of Coles Corner was taken up the road from where I live (outside the Stephen Joeseph Theatre). He first 3 albums arn't as good as they are rather samey, but his last two are close to genius in places :D

I'm checking out Jody now and I've got to say, I like what I'm hearing so far! Thanks :D
