Yup, I've been having problems with a couple of games too. The Trap Door problem was really annoying though, I was getting right into that!!

This is a known problem with the Trapdoor .tap file on WoS. The tzx file works fine. I wonder if the tzx is OK for the myspeccy emulator, and we can persuade them to adopt it.

I thought for a laugh I'd try to topple the Stargliders uber-score on Bruce Lee, was on my 3rd time around with 200000 or so points, just got back to the start area coming up from underground. I was just about to exit to the right that takes you to the room with the 2 disappearing platforms. I flying kicked the ninja he went slightly offscreen and the game froze?

    Now I'm annoyed!

I wonder if it's a prob with the emu, or if the actual game doesn't take kindly to you kicking the enemies off the screen?

I was really enjoying playing Ping Pong again until the uber uber score came from nowhere to take first place.

That smacked of the weird bug where an end-of-level bonus goes absolutely nuts.

Not that I'm a bad loser or anything.

    Ahem.

I was closing in fast. I would have had your score licked....it was only a matter of time ;-)

I wasn?t aware of the bug you refer to but knew that the 1st place score was somewhat unbelievable.

My score isn't a good one by my standards - lost 15-13 on Level 5 (the first Level 5). The timings in the emulator are a little too inaccurate for me to play well on that. Usually I can loop Level 5 until the cows come home.

I've noticed the new Nick's score on Metro-Cross.

    "I give up".

I must admit that back in the day it was fairly easy but now, I'm totally convinced that age has finally caught up with me and YES that bad ass acid in the early 90's did kill some brain cells!

It's the way I play 'em.

Take solace in the fact that I'm generally crap at playing Speccy games these days, and I'll never stay in the overall Top 20 players list for too long.

I didn't know that, but thanks, it's good to know it's not just me that has these problems. I take it that's why I actually have a higher score than Starglider on something for once!!

EDIT: Actually, on a slightly more serious note, I notice Starglider has been having trouble with the high scores actually saving... What's this all about?! Not good!!

After all these years, I'm either a lot worse or just as pants at these old Speccy games as I was back then... but Metro-Cross makes me laugh, 'cos I (still to this day) can't get past the same point in the game as back then!!

I've put down a marker for you Daren. I can't imagine it will last very long!

EDIT - no sooner said than gone.

I'll have another go this evening.

Heh, I'll give it another bash tonight I reckon. A great arcade conversion this, highly underrated IMO.

Hmmmm 4290 pts, something tells me I'm a little rusty

I'm gonna have to get used to this again, I used to be able to play it til' my hand went numb and I had to pause it and go do something else for a while.

Sweet! How long has Who Dares Wins II been up? Gonna check the scores and see if I even have a remote chance of getting to the top.

...and I suppose even if I don't I'll play it anyways, I'm one of the ones that loves this gave.

Treat my Moon Cresta score as a "statement of intent" - that was my first-ever game in years.

I'll be surprised if I get over 30,000 though.

Now wondering whether or not to go for the maximum in Saboteur...

Good luck in that, there's some obsessive loons out there I'm sure who will outdo you if you do take it I'm sure.

Me on the other hand haven't even played it yet, and maybe won't. I do think it's a good game and I did used to be good at it. But it's been so long and I'm so rusty I can't even remember where the disk or the bomb are hidden never mind getting out alive

I hope Match Day goes up there so i can get a great score on that ! Bit difficult to track really as it should only be played on the difficult level
  • edited June 2008
The hardest levels on Moon Cresta for me are the first two, with the things that split in half when shot. It's when they're broken up they're at their worst, as they swoop lower down. When you get to the 3rd round they just start taking the piss - their speed gets ridiculous.

Docking's pretty easy, and a good way to get points.

The disk is located in the computer room which can be easily found at the end of the second train journey. The location of the bomb depends upon the level; the higher you go, the further it is from the disk. However, it's always in the same place for each level.

I played the game and finished it on the easiest level to rank myself 7th overall. If you want the top spot, I'd guess you'd better do it on one of the harder levels, kill as many guards as possible by kicking them, and not hang about too much to max out on the bonus. Good luck.

I had the same problem with Saboteur 2 the other night, just couldn't find the bike in the tunnels. Was searching and searching, went back into the main building, and was set upon by 2 androids and a dog, and that was the end of that.

Amazingly, I managed to reach stage 3 on Bounder. Don't ask me how the heck I did it; it's still hard to believe.

Had only one single life remaining... so the game didn't last very long

    What a hellish game...

Hopefully not the sort of obsessive loons who went round the Bruce Lee circuit multiple times...;-)

    No!!!

I got 39,000+ in MoonCresta - and the site didn't record my score!

I was into the 4th loop, and got the "Enjoy another game" message.

    Bugger!
