Swiss cheese stinks - UEFA 2008 Football

edited June 2008 in Chit chat
Well, I was initially on the side of Switzerland, until about the first 10mins, when each time some Czech had the ball, then the fans booed and whistled as if a great crime had been committed.
Some way to be a good host country.

I wonder, do the Swiss fans have as big holes in their heads as their Swiss cheese? I'd think so!

Well done to Czech Republic, showing that professionalism pays off, despite the cheap dirty tricks employed by the Swiss morons.

Lets hope Switzerland gets their stinky rotten cheese ridden teeth kicked in the next games too.

Next game tonight......Portugal and Turkey.
I don't know which of the two have darker skin or hair, but both seem pretty greasy, almost as greasy as the Italians.

What I don't get is that European Cup is about Europe, what the hell is Turkey doing here? Seeking asylum as usual?

Christiano Ronaldo, is he playing tonight? I wonder if he can pull a few tricks, hes talented and a good sportsman.

The reason why lazy & slow England didn't qualify is because hes not on their team.

Whats your take on the Euro cup so far?

Yeah, you know, greasy, with all the slick and grime that these people put into their hair.
Italians equip themselves with sunglasses too......even in thunderstorms, because, well, they think its cool!

Can't these people just comb their hair, WITHOUT applying 100 tons of gel?????

    I'm supporting Poland this year.

If they win the whole thing, then I win 30 quid.

    Do boju Polska!

    Watching the Portugal game now.....

Does it get any more political correct, than to see a black guy playing in a white uniform? hmmmm

1 yellow card already in the first 5 mins. I just knew these people play dirty........

Was quite boring really. Thing that struck me was the crowd, a total lack of atmosphere.

I'll cheer on Poland too I think.

On paying my ?1, I pulled Portugal out of the hat in the sweepstake at work, so I'll be supporting them while they're in it. Not that they'll win it.

You think Turkey should not be allowed to play Colin Kazim Richards or not be allowed to wear white kits?

    What a ridiculous statement.

Is it your intention to offend as many people as possible tonight?

As a Portuguese, I must say I'm not proud of our team. I hate divers and I wish my team didn't had any.

Now, does it really matter what hairstyle people have or what clothes they wear? I fail to see the humour(?) in these type of comments.

We can say a lot of stupid and silly stuff here on WoS but some of the ignorant comments in this thread should be toned down or better yet left unsaid.

The diving team's meant to be at the Olympics, not Euro '08 :-P

I saw the opening game, but I haven't bothered with the 2nd one.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

@ZnorXman and woodcock88: My thoughts exactly, but I was hesitant to say it, thinking someone would reply with something like 'who made you a mod?', etc.

I usually do when we talk football Euro cup or world cup.

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12433&highlight=world+cup+hedegaard

What tone needs to be brought down?
That we can't speak freely, that we have to be false and curteous and over sensitive about football and the players that participate?
(as most know me from here, its my retarded humour, am not a racist, anti muslim whatever type)

You guys should have seen what the German media did the other day:
They took a picture of Fritzel (the guy that locked his daughter in the basement for 28 years) and did some photoshop on him, to make him the new Austrian mascot with paint on his face and wrote things like: "Austrain football is akin to the players being locked in their basements for 28 years"
I bet you guys think that was cruel, I thought it was sick humour that was a tad much but still my kinda humour.

Thats not what I said. I think Turkey and Colin can where whatever they want, so long as they DO wear something! ;)

Many of your comments are very racist, anti-this-and-that, though we may know different, the line you tread is a superbly thin one and others may be very offended by what you (and many other WoSsers) have to say, and how you say/word things.

    Aside from that:
I am annoying as heck, I know that and am somewhat aware of it.

Oh, I am sure it's all tongue in cheek....

Strangely, the Dane was none to pleased when I criticised England recently.

    Go figure.

Anyhoo, Turkey were quite impressive I thought..not the cutting edge of Portugal, but a good team.
I stole it off a space ship.

Unfortunately you can't flook ar past the big teams like Germany and Italy but I would suggest Spain or Portugal would be a good outside bet.

The Spaniards are the perennial under-achievers (a bit like England) so this tournament may be their time.

Anyway, who are the favourites of this European Cup, or whatever it is?
  • edited June 2008
I think over here (UK), Germany are the bookies favourites. Spain are apparently second favourites, which makes me laugh... every tournament, they're a great team on paper, but not on the pitch!! Complete pap, if you ask me!! Grrrrrrr!!

    (I'm Spanish, hence the aggression)

Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy in that order.
