I love american football, in american footy theres two conferences, i chose a team in each conference to support years ago (back in '85), makes it more fun to watch.
Bit like supporting a premiership side and following a team in the championship as well

Wake up, hey wake up
so which is your fave side, the raiders or the cowboys?
do you ever take part in it, or are you just happy to be a voyeur?
Played two years flag football when i was young (This is where you dont have kits but velcro belts !)
Did a couple of practice sessions for a few months for the Woking Generals (Theres a fair few amateur teams in the UK) but it was a nightmare with all the kit on and getting hit, i could hardly walk all week, the minute all the pains went it was the next practice session. With no insurance etc i bottled out as i could have badly got injured.
Back in the 80's used to chuck the ball around tons in the park with my mates, was pretty good. But now i just watch.
Been over to Oakland twice to see my team play, managed to get a pre-game pass and be on the pitch for a few hours, met tons of players etc. Loved it
I'm still waiting for a joke about the 'tight end' (american footy position)

sorry i don't get the joke.
when you were playing with your mates, was it full on or were you just palying the touch version? i can imagine its pretty hard without proper protection.
I did watch the last superbowl at a superbowl party and the last quarter was really exciting, much to my shock. Then I asked myself..why have a superbowl party when your team ain't in the final?
Oakland Raiders eh. Sorry to say I found Oakland itself a bit of a dump. I actually quite like US football, the college level is more flowing and better though.
My brother used to play American Football back in the 80s for a local 'Amateur' league in Manchester. He had to buy all his equipment..the shoulders etc..which I summarily made fun of.
I then got into watching it though with him and started to enjoy it.......purchased TV Sports football for my Amiga and then it kind of died off....strangely haven't got back into it while I've been living in America.
Edit: Oh I had the chance to go see the superbowl when it was in Houston a couple years ago....a friend of mine (wealthy friend) had divorced his wife and asked if I wanted to go with him coz he had 2 tickets...I said nah...
Later found out tickets were going for like $2k!! should have said yes and Ebayed it!

You learned a lesson, I didn't think an optimist such as yourself would've let that slide, you should know never to say no to free tickets, unless they're for a local amateur baseball team (in which case you should demand money for accepting them :D).

Yeah Oaklands a dump, just across the bridge is San Francisco so all the great jobs/houses are normally there.
As of the whole black quarterback thing, thats totally different nowadays. In the old days there were hardly any black QB's, now theres many, lots of black coaches now as well (compared to the old days) which is good.
I still cant believe Michael Vick (Famous QB), multi millionaire, (had signed a 100 mill 7 year contract) and he gets busted for dog fighting. If i had 100 mill i wouldnt be fighting dogs with some low-lifes and betting on it. The guys in jail now and i hope no one will let him get a job in the NFL when he comes out.

(Prepare to get bored)

I dunno why but I can see a gaylord related joke rearing it's head soon :D
If the two teams played each other it would be the Raiders 100%
(waiting for Miles joke)
i'm not making a joke, i'm just interested. do you have any interest in any other sides?
Nope thats it. Theres teams i hate (The Man Utd of the league) as all the bandwagon fans support them (New England Patriots).
I cant wait for September for the season to start, its great, i can watch any game i want on my computer now, technology is so good !

He's the guy behind the camera.

How come there are no black quarterbacks of note?
