need explanation about Google
When I type something into Google and press Enter, I get results in miliseconds. When I am searching something in my local Windows, it takes ages in comparison to Google.
How is this possible ?
I assume, the Google server is a huge disk array.

Even if google wasn't so efficient with it's caching it's always going to be quicker to search a nicely laid out database than a pile of files most of which you have to at least look at the timestamp to make sure they haven't changed since the last index.
My other half is always using windows search and I never do. If I don't put a file in it's proper place it deserves to be lost :)
Windohs Vista attempts to do this. It uses slack time to index your files so that searches are instant.
A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat
Tranpose "slack time" to read "every time the PC reboots" and you'll be closer - that was my experience anyway. Used to last at least an hour and a half until I figured out how to turn it off completely.
Ouch!! mine and my wifes laptops are plagued with Vista. The bootup times have been quite quick for me.
Funny though, my XP installation goes back to 2003. I booted my computer and my Spectrum at the same time. After switching on my PC and Spectrum I loaded Manic Miner from cassete on the Spectrum and you can guess which one finished first.
