Who's that girl?

edited June 2008 in Sinclair Miscellaneous
Can somebody tell me, who played, 'Shareth the HeartStealer' in the Doomdarks Revenge audio drama? What a great voice! Was she part of the Beyond Software team, or just a friend of the production staff?

Has she lent her voice to anything else, or have any of the other cast?

There's an audio drama? I've never heard of that. It wasn't included with my version of the game. Where can I get it?

Should be boxed with the game. Also included with the, 'Best of Beyond' compilation.

MP3s used to be here on WOS somewhere, though I cant find em now. I downloaded em from the FTP a while back.

Not on my version. It has the same demo of Psytron that's included with Lords of Midnight instead.

I bought Doomdarks Revenge and never got an audio tape with it.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

On the original box, there should be a flash which reads something like, 'Including special audio cassette featuring the full story of Doomdark's Revenge.'

Also, my copy of 'Best of Beyond' does not have the demo of Psytron at all.

Very interesting, though I guess no one can help me with my question :(

Me neither. In fact I have two boxed, original copies and both just have the Psytron demo on the other side.

Never even heard of the audio tape thingy until this thread was started.

Maybe it was a limited edition. I got it with mine.
If no one can locate them on WOS archives I could upload them if needed. Been a while since I looked at them they are either MP3 or real audio files.

I just did a search on Yahoo. The audio tape was an extra on the Commodore 64 version of the game. It's available here. According to the site, Mandy Baber, Francis Lee and Marc Peirson supplied the voices.

    Hi,

Seems like the links for the audio zips don't exist anymore or maybe it's a bandwidth exceeded problem?

Anyone manage to get these off that site?

    Ta,

I love the Eurythmics version of the song. I only remembered last night that Madonna had a different song with the same so I listened to a clip on amazon.com. It's crap in comparison. :)

A search for "doomdarks revenge" showed the game and sundry related files (including links to C64 and CPC464 versions on other sites, and to a PC remake), but not to the audio file -- and a search for "mp3" turned up only the Indescomp 32k Ram Pack... :(

That's a well-known phenomenon -- other examples include Time After Time being the name of both an easy-listening standard (1930s, I think) and a song by Cyndi Lauper (covered by Eva Cassidy and by the Miles Davis Quintet), and Fire being two different songs (which were released at about the same time) by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and by the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown...

Indeed, "Thunderclap" Newman's only hit was going to be called Revolution, but just before it was released the Beatles released a single of the same name, so it was hastily renamed Something in the Air...

Nope it's not an accident. My audio drama is on the B side of the Speccy cassette.

There's also a song by Spacemen 3 called Revolution. It's a brilliant one too. :)

It is listed on the wikipedia entry (I just checked). :)

Don't suppose you've ever recorded mp3s of this? I just remembered this thread and I'd love to hear it.

Naturally, you should upload it to WoS. :)

Hehe, I wasn't aware that I was asked to record an mp3 of this. Hehe! Well, the game is in the loft at the moment, so I'm afraid I can't for quite a while. But if I happen to stumble across it before someone beats me to recording one, then sure I will.

PS: Did anyone find out who played Shareth?

Edit: Oh, you did tell me. Thanks again, Necros. I remember now!

Edit 2: Just found this... http://www.geocities.com/timessquare/fortress/9617/midnight.html#story
but you can no longer download 'em! :( Fat lotta good that is. Someone should say that the Speccy came with it too!

Yep, that's the same page I got the information about the voice actors from originally. :)

Wasn't on my speccy version and I bought it as soon as it hit the shops.
maybe it was only on later versions..

This is the first I heard of it and I would have known at the time, cos I loved that sort of thing.
