Experts needed

edited June 2008 in Games
Hi everyone :)

Would anyone like to be interviewed in Retro Gamer about the Spectrum. You don't have to be involved with the machine in anyway, but you would need to be considered (ideally by people on this and other boards) as an expert in the field so to speak.

If you think this is you, or know someone who fits the bill, then please PM me.

:)

There are dozens of knowledgeable people here, but Andrew is indeed one of the first who came to mind. If the interview was more inclined towards emulation, new hardware projects or new software, we also have people who are considered experts (by the people of this forum) in those particular fields.

Look no further than James McKay (jmk on this forum). http://www.indigobanquet.adsl24.co.uk/

(if he will do it and you haven't interviewed him before)
As well as being an emulator author and Klass of '99 developer, jmk is also the best Spectrum Gamer in the world and still proving at www.myspeccy.org

I put Nick forward for this one, given that he's researched every year of the Spectrum for his superb Your Sinclair Rock'n'Roll Years videos.

I'd also say Andrew Owen, James McKay (JMK), Dunny, Philip Kendall, Gasman, Alchresearch, Andrew Barker, maybe Winston (he knows his stuff, but I don't know how deep his Speccy knowledge is), and a noobie called Martijn Van Der Heide. And Frobisher is of course knowledgable and experienced in the Spectrum games industry.

Hi Daz, obviously you know me from the Retro Gamer forum. I'm no 'expert' as such but a few of us here are world champion Speccy gamers on myspeccy.com if that helps.

Great little game that is, can get quite frustrating but a nice different type of platformer, used to play it a lot back in the day

Oh, you're making me blush!

How about Sintech, Alchemist Research, RWAP, etc? Basically, anyone who is still producing or selling today?

Who you need to talk to really depends on what area of the Speccy culture you are going to concentrate on.

You want to know about preservation, talk to one of the preservation team. (and an article about preservation for all formats is well overdue in RG, after all if wasn't for the efforts of these people RG would have a massivly reduced readership)

You want to talk about collecting, then there are plenty of good people here.

New projects is a different lot of people.

    and so on......

You can't cover the Speccy (or any other scene) in a single article so what do you intend to concentrate on ?.

This isn't me then, as I have no expertise in anything except maybe social care for adults with learning difficulties, which is not related to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum... or is it ;-)

    Regards,

    Shaun.
