Did WoS disappear yesterday (17 Jun 08) evening?

edited June 2008 in Chit chat
Never posted in chit-chat before, but I thought it was the best place for this post/question.

I couldn't access WoS yesterday evening and night. I was beginning to get withdrawal symptoms!

Wasn't just my ISP as I could access other sites just fine and the netcraft uptime website couldn't talk to WoS either :-(

Isn't WoS supposed to 'break' when Martijn is on holiday, not when he's back? :p

Same here, but so were other sites for me, couldn't even get to Google half the time...

In Poland it was the same. Like the WOS didn't existed. I expected some really big changes to happen on the site that required to temporarily turn it off, but it looks it wasn't the case.

WOS forums wasn't working, but the Home page was.

It was a similar situation to the great outage of Sept 2007

Whole WoS site was down for me. Didn't respond to a PING either...

I guess soon I'll read on the Register or Inquirer about some big "cyber outage" with some mega DDoS attack against key infrastructure (again!)

Interesting murtceps. I couldn't even get the home page.

My ADSL was done completely the other night...I was gutted, someone had just given me a link to a forum where you request what time of porn scene you are after and people post links to videos on said subject.

    :(

Not for me I had complete website death, wouldn't even load the homepage.

Panicked a little at first, but figured ah maybe I can get back on tomorrow. I won't say I'm used to this happening, but when it does I don't panic anymore.

I do panic if the homepage does load, and the forums don't though :D

EDIT: Then it's online chat and conversations about bridges

WOS was dead from Malta last night with the traceroute falling over at

    gv-dc2-ipc-cr01.nl.kpn.net

so it was getting to the hosting and dying there with a gateway error.

Also bbc.co.uk was down for a short time this afternoon with the same error.

    I couldn't access WOS, either.

Hmmmm, Martijn is away for a fortnight, and everything runs smoothly, but five minutes after he returns, WOS goes down....

The man's a jinx I tell you

thank god for that, i thought it was my PC!

I was trying to find out if there was two versions of Hisoft C, one for +3 running cp/m and a +3 version. Every other site was ok, but WoS was down in Athlone, in Ireland. - I still don't know if there are two versions of Hisoft C.

ZnorXman killed WoS because I casually made fun of him on another thread, but he restored it when I apologised to him :)

It was 870 minutes of pure psychological torture ... the withdrawal symptoms ... man ... the shakes ... she profuse sweating (oh, wait, nothing new there) ... the incomplete circlejerk on Fb(our WoS hearts just were not in it and we were missing people to complete the chain :-( ).

I'm glad WoS is up again.

ReverbNation (the latest mailing list in the clueless-fuckwit stakes) tried to get onto WoS? ;)

I'm blaming delayed-trauma from WOS going down for the grumbly tummy and case of squits I had last night. Some might point the finger at the liquorice allsorts and spicy hot chocolate I consumed yesterday but I think a rational man can only blame one thing.

It was missing. I found it behind my sofa and put it back right away.

    Naughty WOS.
