Commode SID chips

edited June 2008 in Chit chat
Whats the deal with these and why do people want them so bad?

I've sold 3 recently that I pulled form fried c64s. they sold for $15 each and one went for $25 with lots of bidders watchers.

Thing is you can buy a dead C64 for $5 or so on fleabay...with the chip in it.

What are people doing with these chips?? one of the guys that bought one of mine had been buying them up as I checked his feedback and he had bought 5 or so that month.

Anyway..its a nice little tip if you have a dead 64 laying around...pull the SID and stick it on Ebay....I stubbled across this phenonomaoananana by accident and had had my units sitting gathering dust.

They are being used in diy synths that have been used on some chart hits. Don't ask me what ones but Timbaland and people like that are using SID based toys on stuff.

I'm sure Justin Trousersnake used SID music on his last travesty, kinda sounded like a C64 demo.....jeez it was awful....even more awful than the usual shite :D
