Ahhh, Oink. First issue I bought suggested to children that if their pet tortoise got a bit smelly, they should use a teaspoon to pop him out of his shell and give it a good scrub.

Man in a pub once told me Mark Riley *was* Frank Sidebottom, but didn't offer any actual evidence/proof. Also, it was 50p a Pint night.

The League Against Tedium was great. He did a Radio 1 show for a while, meaning what with him and Mark Radcliffe/Riley I was listening to quite a bit of radio for a while...

(Any more tangents to mention? :))

I used to think the Mystery voice thing that Mark and Lard did from about 97' up until about 99/2000 was hilarious. I remember at christmas one time they did it as usual, then about an hour or so later they did it in German. But they still ended it with "WHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!???????".

The "German" mark and lard were two characters called "Otto und Otto" who were simply M&L sketches/features but in German. One of my favourites was when they did the German Fat Harry White which was still inexplicably really funny even though I hadn't a clue what he was saying. I think it was because there was some sort of vocal emphasis whenever the double entendre arrived.

Yup me and my pals back from england still refer to "rocky" (cannibis resin) as "Cheed", being the play on cheese. Which is whatever we would call the rocky whenever we scored a particularly large amount for cheap :D

    Oh happy days

also frank sidebottom used to do bizzare comedy slots on mark radcliffe & lard's pre-radio 1 show on radio 5 called Hit The North. there was one where him and little frank went to egypt and unleashed the curse of the pyramids. also remember him being on Remote Control the game show presented by Anthony Wilson (R.I.P)

    more tangents...
