Neither me nor CKay cheated on Cobra. We've got quite the little war going on over the top spot for that game, but I can assure you that it is possible to get high scores with a little practice. I got a 200,000 score myself at one point (not quite as high as CKay's, but nearly) although myspeccy.com had logged me out for some reason so it didn't count. :(

I didn't cheat on Turbo The Tortoise either.

I had some more goes on Turbo the Tortoise and still can't get away with it, strange as it's the same engine as Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo and I've grown really fond of that. Tell you what, I'll race you to top place, your just one below me (Scrappy dappy Doooooo ) ;)

Any suggestions for more good high score games that aren't there already?
I've worked out the high score locations for Action Force II, Airwolf, Death Star Interceptor, Hyper Sports and Trashman. I've submitted them for adding here.

This site has once again knocked me down. I managed to regain my top score on Jungle Warrior. Although that wasn't much fun as I only lost it yesterday, and I'd been tops on it for weeks, it was almost like I had to learn to play it again

Then Jumping Jack which plays really terribly using the PC keyboard smacks me in the eye....I can't get past the 3rd screen!!!! I used to be really good at it. Although that was in the days when Symbol shift and space were a little closer together :D

Last but not least I cannot remember the controls on Penetrator being so shit, I mean I thought this was an OK game but using right as fire as well ergh! I don't remember that at all? How awful, I finally think to myself I used be good at scramble, I wasn't bad at Penetrator I'll have a go......I wish I hadn't....absolute gash, another childhood memory destroyed

Yep, Penetrator has that weird control scheme, I remember it back in the day too. I can't think of any other speccy game where the same key performs two main functions?

Still a good game though for the time, nice sound effects and the fireworks display is pretty good.

Same here for way of the exploding fist - I looked like a rank amatuer - with the whole messy keyboard layout.

Just a quick query, are in game cheats allowed? for example (taken from the tipshop)

Firstly play the game until a high score is achieved. Once on the high score table
press 'CAPS SHIFT' and '0' at the same time until about two to three lines are filled
up with the symbol C/S. Now press 'ENTER'. The screen goes jumbled and look like a
crash. Play on through the game and after a short time the screen returns to normal,
    but you have infinite lives.

This would explain the remarkably high scores achieved on target renegade....

Or maybe some obsessive loon went round it a million times much like I did with Bruce Lee, a game with no cheats as far as I can tell.

Please nobody beat my Bruce Lee score because of this post it really took me about 3 hours

Yeah I remember back in the day me and my mate achieved some really high scores but it probably would take a really long time. - Im still aftr top spot on the original renegade - Plus it looks pretty smart when I hook the laptop up to my 40" LCD TV......

I gave up on renedgade after I couldn't beat the last level anymore, I wish I was 10 years old again so I could do a level without getting hit

But the last few threads have inspired me to try Target Renegade again.....even if I have to go round about 7 times just to make the top 10

I have also realised what a disgusting abomination Spy Hunter is, I used to love that game but playing it on this site it is an unresponsive, slow, annoying piece of shit with crap controls. You can't shoot while you move left or right, erm that causes some slight problems.

    Did Thids make this game?

This website is good but it's so good it's revealing how shit some of the games I used to like really are, or were.

Only prob is I can't play Hypersports til' the missus wakes up, she'll be all pissed off if my keyboard mashing wakes her up

The Vault level is the level that stopped me playing the game on both the Spectrum and Mame a few years ago :( , had to ask a mate to do that level for me a while back, just so I could play the rest.

Hopefully MySpeccy will make me better at that level.

Watched an Amiga Rick Dangerous video last week, and had never realised that the 8-bit versions have a third missing from the levels compared to the 16 bit versions, very weird considering their was a 128K version, surely it wouldn't have been too much work for the coders to put the rest of the levels into a proper 128K version? They already had the level data, graphics etc.

I've added Action Force II, Airwolf, Death Star Interceptor, Hyper Sports, Pipe Mania, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Shockway Rider.

Shockway Rider, Action Force II and Death Star Interceptor hasn't been put up yet for some reason, the scores save fine though.

I'm currently bug fixing Empire Strikes Back's score routine in the games code, as it gets corrupted past a certain point. You should be able to score upto 9,999,999. Star Wars works ok upto 99,999,999.

I'll add more games to the site if I get some suggestions.

Same here, he hardly spun around when i was whacking the keys, the swimming and shooting seemed alright.

Currently 3rd on Cobra, i'm gunning for CKay though who has a huge score and is 1st but after an hour of playing i better give my dog some attention (I'm talking about my 4 legged friend with a tail !)

Klax is on the test site already, but it freezes after loading. It does the same thing in Spin as well when saving it as a .sna snapshot and loading it back.

I was gonna say I think it's on there, but had a look and it ain't. Never known what to do on that one :)

Frank, I built a list up of 15 games last weekend, but didn't wanna post them all up as it looked a bit much/cheeky.

But for now it'd be nice if you could add the six games that came with the +2, i.e.

    Punchy :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003939
    Treasure Island :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Treasure+Island$&pub=^Mr.+Micro+Ltd$&loadpics=1
    Oh Mummy :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003494
    Crazy Golf :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Crazy+Golf$&pub=^Mr.+Micro+Ltd$&loadpics=1
    Disco Dan :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Disco+Dan$&pub=^Gem+Software$&loadpics=1

and of course Alien Destroyer :- http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Alien+Destroyer$&pub=^Sinclair+Research+Ltd$&loadpics=1

a few of the others I thought would be cool :)

    180 - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000015

surprised noones asked for that yet.

and if we can't have Street Fighter what about

    Human Killing Machine - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Human+Killing+Machine$&pub=^US+Gold+Ltd$&loadpics=1

also Express Raider, as Kane always reminds me of it for some reason

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Express+Raider$&pub=^US+Gold+Ltd$&loadpics=1

    Solomans Key - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Solomon's+Key$&pub=^US+Gold+Ltd$&loadpics=1

Would be over the moon with Crystal Castles - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseek.cgi?regexp=^Crystal+Castles$&pub=^US+Gold+Ltd$&loadpics=1

sorry for big list, I left some off, honest ;)

Its on the test site twice, I translated a Russian comment from the guy that put it up and he says,
Points are normally recorded, but in a game like the final score as is the amount of points-the amount of fines .....
How to realize this? Or leave as is?

I'll try, it'll take some time. I've been using all my time trying to bugfix Empire Strikes Back, I can score upto 999,999 without any problems, but means I'd have to quit before I reach 999,999 to protect my score from going back to 0, and possible crashes when the score starts overwriting parts of important code. I've nearly fixed it for upto 9,999,999 which should be enough.

That score for Airwolf on the main site is genuine! Scores on the test site don't get transferred to the main site.

I managed to rescue 3 scientists to get my score. I spent every hour for about a month playing Airwolf when I got it for Christmas 84 along with a 48k upgrade kit. It was the only 48k game I had for ages. I ended up loving that game, which is why I added it to the site. Its a bit harder with that Java emulator being a bit unresponsive, so I wasn't able to get all 5 scientists back to the start.

There are no cheats in Airwolf either, other than good use of the pause button (space). I'll have to do an RZX showing it completed without pokes one day.

Blimey ! Great score ! Some of the screens you learn tricks for, i mean some you can just fly in and as long as you dont stop you get past forcefields etc

    Great great score though !

Was doing well on Cobra just then but had a bad run of luck and died, doh !

Same here, finally managed a top 3 score on MM, but on about the 4th or 5th time round I choked on the warehouse and made some really bad schoolboy errors. Which cost me any chance of getting the top score. Which is still more than double what I got anyway, in fact the second place is too :o

I'm releasing a dvd next month called...

    King of Cobra

The relentless pursuit of one man who is determined to get the highest score in the world (documented) on Cobra.

He ignores his wife and his dog for weeks on end as he sits in his basement playing Cobra 24/7

However there are side effects, when he goes out he keeps running into prams, headbutting women and jumping up and up over and over again. Everytime his wife comes near him he makes a 'wolf whistle' type noise.

Gotta say MySpeccy is my favourite site on the net at the moment. Absolutely brilliant. Really enjoying trying to up my MetroCross score. Will never challenge the top spots, so its great that it ranks you even outside of the top 10.

I too would love to see 180 on there.

Its depressing though isnt it ! Quite often i thought 'i'm good at speccy games' and then i see some of the scores for my favourite games on myspeccy and i think god damn i'm terrible !

Proud of my Cobra score but i want top spot ! I wont rest despite my pale skin from playing the game all day and black eyes as i'm concentrating for hours on end ;)

The only game I would class myself as good at is 3d Deathchase. But even on that I need to get in the zone which doesn't happen often. I will post a good score on it at some point though.
