I had my first go of Hypersports in years a few minutes ago, my hand is out of training with key mashers that's for sure. I actually did the vaulting level first try with 2 qualifies, I was quite surprised considering that was the one event I used to dread the most.
I ballsed up on the Archery though which was a kick in the teeth because I'm sure it used to be pretty easy.
Not really bothered I'd have ended up with carpel tunnel or RSI if I'd have made it to the weightlifting :D
I'll try, it'll take some time. I've been using all my time trying to bugfix Empire Strikes Back, I can score upto 999,999 without any problems, but means I'd have to quit before I reach 999,999 to protect my score from going back to 0, and possible crashes when the score starts overwriting parts of important code. I've nearly fixed it for upto 9,999,999 which should be enough.
Thanks a lot, quick work too on getting the game hacked :)
any new games added is always very exciting, more so with the memorys of some of them.
Bit alarmed not to see any classics like Renegade III, Dynamite Dux, Sqij, Jack and the Beanstalk :D
After several hours, 3 missed phone calls, 2 knocks on the door, dog begging to go out for a pee, cramp i've finally got my Cobra top spot back !
Nice one :)
Please beat my Gunrunner score next, it says 40 odd thou, but in actual fact it used to be 14950, I did score 22000 or thereabouts without it increasing from 14950, then somehow a wrong score I never attained.
I got noone to play against on it, and it's mint :) If they ever allow us to submit our actual scores to correct the database, then some games will become more playable again.
edit - Good call Daren, games to make people cry :)
Had a go of that earlier on, and will probably never play it again
The collision is all over the place, I was dieing from crashing into walls when I wasn't even touching them. If you die and then restart as something is coming towards you you have no chance of getting out of it's way thus you die again. Or to top off the big slap in the face, it'll start you on top of something. Oh bang goes another life
It can't just be me though, I scored 7200, and that got me into the top 10, but everyone above me has something between 9000 and 9600.

Never played that one yet, seem to remember I used to be no good at it... will check it out though to see how bad the collision detection is.
Stacks gonna be gutted when he can return to gaming, his score's been raped, down from 65 or thereabouts to 49, within points of a few folks.
Does he mean that the score is worked out as "total points - total fines =total score"? If so, then that's right isn't it?
Thats right, but I don't think that type of scoring is possible yet on the site. To be able to read 2 scores from the game and subtract one from the other. I've just thought of a possible way of doing it, hack the game and hijack the score routine with my own routine that can read both scores and subtract one from the other, then write it to a spare location in the game. The site could then just read that 1 score. I don't know if they support negative scores though.
I'd like it if we could have 2 or more score locations to track, as then i'd be able to add Beach Head II where you can play as either the Allies or Dictator in Player 1 mode. It uses different locations for each. I can't see the reason for not supporting arcade adventure games either then. Keeping track of % complete and puzzles solved etc.
The scoring in Xecutor seems to be buggered - the emulator seems to record the score you finished Level 1 with, not your total score. Just managed a score of 16000-odd, but was only credited with 9250, which is what I finished Level 1 with.

Drop them a note about it on their FORUM, they're bound to look into it ASAP.
I never played it BITD, so I'm just trying to get into it. I've managed to qualify on the springboard / horse jump bit before, but it's rare that I do. Is there a fool-proof way of doing it? It seems really random the way you sometimes do worse than your last go yet get a greater distance out of it! I keep practicing in Spin using a snapshot, but I've not qualified once in about 10 goes.

Don't press fire until you're about to step over the end of the spring board (you get more power the further right you are), then on the vault don't press fire until the very last second (you get more height then), then go mental left/right, trying to time your landing when your sprite's head is over rather than under your body.
And use an emulator which catches every single key-press :)

Haa haa, I thaught yeah I can beat 9000 I'll give it a go. Bpshfufft!! year right :D The games a joke
Got the Robocop title screen music blasting away in the background, some games like Bosconian '87 have extra sound FX when enemies are chasing that actually makes a gameplay difference too.
Just noticed that now, was playing Chubby Gristle and I noticed music, I was like that wasn't there before. So I quit my game and loaded Target Renegade, that sealed the deal, I'd recognise the 128k music from that game anyday :)
EDIT: Sweet!!! That means Renegade will have the shoulder throw now :D

It looks like a couple of times me and you've been getting to the same place in Chubby Gristle :) It's funny when you know people are getting temporarily stuck at the same place, I collected that thing at the bottom that zero's ya score and couldn't stop laughing the other night, hehe
Shoulder throw on Renegade, ooh, throw 'em all off the cliffs, YES :D
(I see they also removed the River Raid cookie, i.e. anyone that had played it had an extra 1st place and 3 points, no matter their score, so that's put the top middle and lower board scores more where they should be (I piled right in for my 3 free ponts at the time, lol) )

Talking of Chubby Gristle and the upgrade, you wouldn't happen to know how to turn the tune off? I can barely get 5 screens in now cos' it does my head in
Give this patch a good work out. Not sure if in safe area either.
Thanks, haven't tried it yet, but it fixes the landing on the take off line?

Other bugs from tipshop.
There are still several bugs in this game, such as jumping under the High Jump bar, allowing the track clock to reset to 000.00, landing on the Long Jump takeoff line (sometimes yielding a jump of 500+m), or releasing the Discus early.
I didn't realise DTD had so many cheating bugs. I think I'll have a go at adding DTSupertest 128 first, don't know of any cheats in that (yet).
Yeah, coz the bullet stop cheat only works on the 48k version...so freaking close to the high score..........
The bugfixed 128k version of Renegade, that doesn't skip a level when you press '0'.
I played with cursors and kept skipping levels every time I hit fire.
I'll hopefully have these games up by next week. I'll do them over the weekend.

And i've fixed Empire Strikes Back to allow for scores upto 9,999,999. I broke the in game hi-score table but it always records the correct score on the dev test site so far. It hasn't been updated yet from the dev site to the main site. (Beyond my power).

How about Daley Thompson's Decathlon? There is a bug with Day 1 where you can get 400+ metres on the long jump, hence a whopping score.
But you could still add Day 2 of Decathlon, that would be great.

Right, I'll be hammering that game soon and I'll bloody well pwn you and CKay, you pair of n00bs :p

It would be better if DTD could be bugfixed first I think.
Hoping for Mr A. to read this and have a look for this bug because its beyond me.
