FAO: JC + CEZ (and other games coders)

edited July 2008 in Development
For my next game I need a huge amount of 14x15 pixel sprites and thought that, rather than just making my own, I'd shout out to see if I could use some from recent Speccy games, such as EggHead, Phantomasa and the like to give a bit of a theme to some of the levels?

If anybody is interested in allowing me to use some of their graphics for my game then please get in touch (PM, MySpace, whatever). I'd really need them in groups of up to six related sprites.

Many thanks to both JC & Javier Vispe, both of who have provided "special guest" sprites for the game. Expect some sprites from Egghead, Loco-Bingo, and Sokoban making a guest appearance in my next game, which I'm hoping to post some screen-grabs from soon...

    Say no more... ;-)

Well, okay, you can tell me a bit about it.

    Regards,

    Shaun.

    Hi Bob!

Sorry about the late response, from CEZ both Anjuel and na_th_an give green light to the use of their graphics as long as the game is distributed for free (as the latest Farmer Jack), but deny it if it's meant to be sold (as splATTR).

I was waiting for Kendroock's response, but he seems to be on vacations. I don't think his response will be any different, but can't speak for him.

The game will be completely free to download (like FJATHM), although we'll probably still sell the cassette version through Cronosoft for those that want it. (All the proceeds go to charity)

If you can give me the name(s) of the games I can use, and who to credit the graphics to, then I'll gladly add them in. If the coders can give any source files (sevenuP / TommyGun / bitmaps / whatever) then all the better.

Selling the cassette version is totally ok, as long as it can be downloaded, so don't worry about it.

Ok, Kendroock also agrees, so that makes most of our games graphics.

And na_th_an said he'll be looking at his files today.

Which format would be best? I have them in defbs mostly, but "z88dk-ordered". I can provide PNGs with the raw graphics.

I didn't use SevenuP until recently, so that's why I can't provide it in a more friendly format. Maybe I can fetch some stuff in .sev format, but I have to dig deep.

Images, in any format, will be fine, or sevenuP or TommyGun files. Whatever is easiest.

That's an odd size! I'm free for a few weeks so if you want me to do a load then that would be cool. Let me know the style you're after and I'll churn a load of stuff out.

    Alright Bobs,

Just played the demo from your site - noticed that it's a bit of a toughie :-O

I'm sure that I'll get used to it though.

    Regards,

    Shaun.
