I think I'll have a go at adding DTSupertest 128 first, don't know of any cheats in that (yet).

Cool, that game would be great.

Its there already along with these. Though its mega hard on there.

    Shockway Rider
    Death Star Interceptor
    Worse Things Happen At Sea
    Daley Thompson's Supertest 128
and score bugfixed Empire Strikes Back which should always post the correct score upto 9,999,999 now. My current score of 1180677 is a genuine score.

Splitting Images should be there soon too. I've already posted it but its not there yet.
    Edit: Its there now.

    Have fun.

Thanks for all your hard work :)

I wonder if the site upgrading to 128k was also meant to massively slow things down?

It appears to have done just that, it's taking ages for a game to load, it's like you're actually loading them off the cassette.

The actual site itself has slowed down hugely too, went super quick before the upgrade, now it's taking minutes to go between pages.

Yes, I spotted this too. Its really slow for me now.

Yep, I've noticed the site being slow too, since last night. Pages take aaaagggges to load.

Yup same here, dont know whats happened as everything was fine a few days ago but is it the upgrade or something else ?

It weas pretty slow for me before the upgrade
  • edited July 2008
It shouldn't be any slower because of the 128k upgrade. Probably just very busy.
The emulator is only 72kb !

I've just noticed my Airwolf score got beat! What!?, Wolkan got 23296?
    Arrghhhh!
I think that is a bug with the 128k, the score gets corrupted on the 128. I'll have to upload a 48k sna instead.
Thats an impossible and suspicious (printer buffer) score value.

I dont know, bad loser ;)

Someone beats your score and you want to reset it ;)

Just had a go of Daley Thompson's Super-Test, and everything does definately seem to be running a little slower, but it's still playable.

Yup just finished playing about the same time as you did, need about 2 days to recover

Just for a laugh I tried gus on Tug o war, it's literally impossible with a keyboard, I did stagger him a couple of times though before he pulled me over the line.

Diving, can anybody do diving, I don't think I've ever qualified at it.

Too true, I just played again to test, rescued 1 scientist without losing a life and did a kamikaze to see the score posted. It didn't post the wrong score but something is definately wrong so I uploaded a 48k sna anyway to the dev site.

The maximum score possible is around 7-8000 points before the game is completed.

I was gonna say his score seemed incredible. Do enjoy Airwolf, always found the first two famous walls quite easy, the first is alright the second you can fly under.

Gets trickier after that but i always found it to be a case of 'just one more try..'

    Added another game.

    Light Force by FTL.

    Enjoy

    Impressive !

I've just found another bug in a game I've submitted, Worse Things Happen At Sea. If you do really bad, the score becomes negative and you get upto 99990 points. :(

Ooh, harsh... also can't believe you had to basically code in a different scoring routine for Empire Strikes Back, way above the call of duty :) and those tips too, cheers, never new about flying through the AT-AT's legs.

Regarding the J for Jedi, I just shoot at the letters when they pop up, until I got all the letters, never shoot those things going up from the probots, looking forward to being awake enough to play the morn ;)

Ooh, and Light Force is way harder than I remembered.

I never played it BITD, so I'm just trying to get into it. I've managed to qualify on the springboard / horse jump bit before, but it's rare that I do. Is there a fool-proof way of doing it? It seems really random the way you sometimes do worse than your last go yet get a greater distance out of it! I keep practicing in Spin using a snapshot, but I've not qualified once in about 10 goes.

As Nick said dont press fire as soon as you hit the horse, that's where it looks like I was going wrong for years, I'd press it as soon as his hands were on it, thinking if I didn't he'd fall, but you really got to wait and watch him change position until he's over enough to 'push off'. You'll gain so much more height if you do this :) Good luck, I know how it felt being kept from the rest of the game due to this level ;)

I think those things the probots shoot up determine the length of time you have on level 2 to get more points. Because each time one is missed, a marker appears in the top bar, when 4 transmissions are missed the level ends. Level 2 has those markers as the time left or distance covered on that level. So it makes sense to keep shooting those transmissions on level 1.
Now someone please beat my score !

I need to sleep now too, I have a driving test tomorrow afternoon. poop poop.

Just been playing The empire strikes back..forgotten what a gem it is - currently 3rd - will take some practice to get anywhere near the top 2

I wait until he's vertical before I press fire and then I 'waggle' as fast as I can. Sometimes, I get 4.summat, sometimes 6.summat, but rarely qualify. I just can't work out what's wrong. Even the rzx's I've watched seem to be doing the same things as me. They don't always qualify either.

Wait until the last possible minute before pressing fire to jump off the horse - I also found this easier with a joystick than keys back in the day. I think controlled waggling is better than button mashing. Once you have the knack - you will qualify every time.

Hmm, no joystick here. I use a one-handed technique where I use O and P and 2 fingers from the same hand. This helps keep a rhythm rather than just bashing the keys. The other hand is then free to do the fire button. Seems to work for the other events fine. I shall keep trying though!

It was factor6 who got that score, I don't have a score up on the main site for WTHAS yet.

Your score is a good score, how many crossings did you do? I've only ever managed 3 crossings once.

I always start on easy, shoot the transmissions until I get bored, then fly through as many AT-AT's legs as possible to get 5000 + 10000 + 15000 + 20000 + 25000 + 30000 + 35000 + 40000 + 45000 + 50000 etc, around 250,000 points. And its a lot easier doing this on easy level. You should be able to complete it 3 times to get the medium and hard level bonuses too then. 4th time around is hard. On Hard level I let the transmissions go to end the level early and save getting shot at. This also saves time on the 2nd level too to avoid getting shot at, makes it easier to complete the Hard level to get the level complete bonus. I don't bother about getting the JEDI letters bonus from the medium level onwards.

I'm hoping they can change some games to the 128 versions, like Thundercats isn't the same in 48k mode.
