I love Whitby (couldn't live there though) and I enjoy visiting when I get the chance, but I don't know of any decent boozers up there though. I understand that there is at least one really nice one that the regulars in my pub talk about alot and use when there so I'll find out which one it is during the week and report back :)
theres a few that i imagine to be decent
tap and spile? or someat opposite the bus station near rosie o'gradys? (i went in once with my IT tutor at college, was quite studenty and gothy with live bands on.
then theres the big one near where you cross over the bridge (forgot the name)
and the one as you cross over the bridge on the right...looks popular (people always outside)

also if your down at the end of august (30th is lifeboat day) we all stand outside the pubs drinking all day :D
It the Scarborough Lifboat Weekend at the start of August (1st, 2nd and 3rd) down at our boathouse. I spend all that weekend getting slowly drunk :D (I'm one of the organisers)
