Some nuthole already figured it out in post #19.

What about the prime nuthole that figured it out already on page 1, in post #6, ZXnorman?

By the way, I don't think the post I made earlier (the one quoted by Dunny) was of tl;dr-worthy length... I've seen way longer walls of text. Ah well, let the stupid memes slowly creep onto WOS. Not long before we call each other n00bs!

(lols of course should never be confused with lulz, which is just baiting people for cheap laffs)

    soi soi soi soi

it does sound sorty like the noise a helicopter could make, when it isn't going wop wop wop.

    OHH, NOT THEM!

I "accidentally stumbled across" that site a few months ago. I stayed for hours. I felt a mixture of fascination, stupefication, horror, and abject terror. I saw things better left unseen. I heard things better left unheard. I learned things better left unlearned.

Then I unplugged my router for a week and cried.

The really scary thing is one of the mods has a post count of over 43500!!!

How does that person sleep at night knowing that almost all of his waking time is spent talking about a girl's cartoon show from the '80's about ponies? (probably comfortably on a bed of pink pillows surrounded by its pony companions.....ugggggh)

    1. can you think of things to fill over 40,000 posts about My Little Pony?
    2. are you a moderator on a My Little Pony forum?
    3. (only if you answer yes to 1 and 2) are you a heterosexual male?
If yes to all three, get help.

You know they're going to link to this thread and mock us for liking an obsolete British computer from the 1980's. Well you know what? At least you can bring up your love of the Spectrum up in public and not get weird looks and possibly lose respect of your friends and family.

With the user name 'MLPMom', what makes you so certain that it's a guy?
Outside of the "there are no girls on the internet" rule, of course.

Thats what i thought, i'm sure most of those users are very young girls and the odd one who had my little pony the first time round and now is still a fan of collecting them etc (Very odd but i cant talk, here i am on the Speccy forum!)

But i never assumed any of them happened to be a guy.

I dont know about that ! Some friends laugh at first then suddenly love talking about some of the old games, others just think i'm sad for still playing Speccy games, same for my family ! I dont mind but i obviously think its 100% better than talking about My Little Pony but to judge them for their 'sad' forum, i'm sure many would also judge us for being sad.

Theres tons of sites out there for collecting Star Wars figures so to me its just the girl equivalent. Sure theres many 30 year old girls/women who have a collection after originally collecting them back in the day.

I've just finished my collection of original Fighting fantasy books (ahem !), suddenly had the urge to finish off my collection of those books which i had as a kid !

I left a "his" in that sentence? wanted to degender that particular part of my comment. If I left it anywhere, it should've been in the comment in parenthesis for added comedy effect.

But you'd expect that it would be far more acceptable in public to proclaim you like the ZX Spectrum. When I say that I like it to people I know, they have no clue what it is (remember? a watch company marketed it in the US during the video game crash as a video game system and not a computer or "entertainment system"?) but they assume that it's something to do with retro gaming (because they know I like it, and that's a totally acceptable hobby in the US). Now if I said I was a fan of My Little Pony, they'd laugh and point. But yes, I didn't really expect any of these posters to be men (hey, you never know). Now let's just say my girlfriend proclaimed she likes My Little Pony. Our friends would still laugh and point, but It would be semi-acceptable. No, in America the young female equivalent to Star Wars fandom is either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Gilmore Girls (the latter was a quirky comedy-drama that aired in from the late '90's to the middle of this decade). Here (i don't know about the UK), My Little Pony isn't even ironic enough for webcomics to make fun of it (like Care Bears)

Books are by their nature intellectual, so are exempt from rofls and pointing. Hopefully, because I still have my ~25 FF books :D

Glad to hear ! I had my original 10 (Had got rid of the others years ago), took a trip down memory lane to get up to #20 (Thats what i had when i was younger) but then found this website..

    http://homepages.tesco.net/~parsonsp/html/fighting_fantasy.html

Decided to get the others ! Was quite fun bidding on ebay and other sites, some where tricky to get hold of and some of the late ones sold for about 20-30 quid each !

Got 1-59 now (Have an urge to collect something else now !)
