1. Close and Finalise (Spectaculator) / Close Rzx (Spin)
2. Close (Spectaculator) / Leave open (Spin)
When you record a game with rollback, you insert save points into recorded file, that you can go back into. They are stored as Spectrum memory snapshots. This makes your file much bigger. This save points are removed when you decide to "finalise" recording.
You should choose option 1 only if you are sure you are ready with the recording, and you will not need to change anything in it later.
If you stop recordning now but want to continue it later, you chose option 2 when closing the recording session.
When you want to continue recording, you choose "Record Rzx" option (just like when you started a new recording), but instead of typing a new file name, you point to existing .rzx file. As I said before, this file must have been closed with option 2.
The emulator may ask you then if you want to append or overwrite the file. Choose "append" to continue. In Spectaculator your gameplay will begin automatically, in Spin you must press Pause key after continuation.
And that's all.
(Spin has also something that is called RZX Studio, but I close it and don't use it. It shows screenshots of save points, so you can choose by clicking the save point you go back into). However when I record a game and I die, I usually want to go to the latest save before dieing, so It's enough for me to use Insert key to save the state and Delete key to go back to the last save.)
Hope it helps.
I think this is where I have my RZX issues in SPIN ... I want to be able to revert back to an earlier point in a game but apparently either can't or don't know how to "add" (?) rollback-spots. I usually only get one black screen in the RZX studio window and that's it.
So, how does one add rollback-spots/screens/moments?
Clue: Read Ralf's post :p
I did ... a few times ... so one has to quit RZXing to add rollback-spots? Why not just hit a key to add a spot?
D'OH!

You don't need to use RZX studio at all to do recording. Just using Insert and Delete is enough.
Step by step tutorial:
1. Load a game (e.g. Manic Miner) into emulator
2. Choose Recording/Input RZX/Record RZX File
3. You are starting a new recording so enter the name of RZX file and press Save.
4. Press Pause key to unpause the emulator. you'll often need to use Pause when recording a game in Spin
4. Press Insert to add a save point.
5. Make some action in the game, walk, jump shoot etc.
6. Press Delete . It means you are doing a rollback. Your emulator should make a pause (nothing still changed yet)
7. Press Pause key again to make things moving. The state of the game should be restored to the moment when you pressed Insert for the last time.
If you press Delete several times you will make several rollbacks. try not to press Delete more times than you pressed Insert as this way you reach beginning of the recording and try to go before it and it can corrupt your recording.
And remember, recording .RZX file in Spin sometimes gives errors. You don't see them while recording, you discover them when you try to play back your RZX. The emulator says there is an error and it won't play the recording any further. It's not your fault, it's fault of Spin. Spin is a great utility but RZX section could be improved.
not in Spectaculator 7 ... if I remember well ...

Unfortunately Spectaculator 7 creates incompatible RZX files with other emulators (even with Spectaculator 6). E.g. Running Man or Pharaoh's Tomb. But I don't know if a fault of Spectaculator itself or those other emulators.
