I have a 12" of that somewhere. I love the wah war on the rythym guitar. It's so of the time.

A time when real orchestra's and brass sections appeared on pop. Not the sound of some fake dodgy poor keyboard synth crap. Keyboards have their place but not making that trashy sound.

I doubt it ... but the Thetan in question may have crossed the Bridge to Total Freedom ... I don't know that much about Scientology.

RIP Isaac Hayes ... your music lives on.

I wonder if it will be referred to on South Park in any way? Considering that he left the show on bad terms and at the time they responded by turning his character 'Chef' into a paedophile.

He was the Duke, the Duke of New York. A-Number one.

    What a loss :(

I can't listen to Shaft anymore without thinking of Chef.

didn't he quit South Park in protest of them taking the piss out of his religion, after happily singing satirical songs about everyone elses faith?

I thought that was the case, as soon as they pointed fun as his religion he quit. South Parks mantra was / is to offend everyone equally.

I'd guess it hit a sore spot as Scientology is even more worthy of poking fun at than most other religions.

Yes, and they responded by turning his character into a paedo and 'killing' him off (episode: 'The Return Of Chef')

That's why I'm interested to see how they react now....

Fricking ell really? That was below the belt. Even though he was not dead at the time.

ok lets not turn this thread into the daily mail.

the character chef was turned into a peado, they didn't suggest issac hayes was a peado.

and in the episode he was brainwashed into becoming a peado by a group of wierdos, he died at the end, and the town held a service saying they should blame the cult for it. (a jab at scientology)

Thought that episode was very funny, i mean South Park did a ton for Issac Hayes so it was quite bad when he kicked up a huff when they took the mick out of his religion but he was happy doing the voice taking the mick out of so many other things/religions etc.

Always seemed a nice bloke in interviews though, shame
