missing archive from TZXvault ?

I tried to download some updates (.zip files) from http://tzxvault.retrogames.com/all.htm but failed. It appears the files are no longer on server.
This should be an expected failure ?

I think Andy recently disabled the feature of mass-downloading all the [changed] files via that "all" zip file...

The download all updates feature has been removed from the vault for some time.

Andy is moving house at the moment so mail deliveries may be a bit upset but IIRC he did post a temp mail address to use while this gets sorted out.

That would in fact be me, and not Andy!!!

The update page was deleted to try and generate some interest in the sale of CD's and now DVD's which are available...

There has been some interest, although on a small scale, but thankfully enough to pay for some very rare tapes which are now preserved, such as Moons Of Tantalus which cost ?20 alone.

There are other tapes which I've sourced which again are quite expensive, if anyone would like to help out, in time for the birthday update of the vault, get in touch stating whether you'd like CD(s) or a DVD...

They're excellent value, are packed to the brim with content and help fund the preservation project rather than some ebayer who just wants to fill his pocket....

I'm surprised you didn't go weak the knees talking about 'Moons Of Tantalus' :o.

It was that title that was almost coroded wasn't it?

Hehe not to mention Street Fighter 2, which had so much tape, that most tape players though they should eat some ;-p.

Ah, the things we do to get a TZX.

    Regards

    Andy

Yep, that's the tape that was so corroded that the tape intself had snapped ;)

Street Fighter 2 got chewed up in my cassette player, and still, you managed to resurrect it!!! Star man Andy

    about that update zip?

i understand its to try and get more people to buy cds........but.....wot about people who may have em all downloaded or already brought the cds? they then have to pick thru the games for the odd updated games.
or is there a cd with updates on??
and do games etc on here when updated get listed so we know which is updated, added without having to go through the list?

When the vault is updated a list is posted on WOS and a vault update normally causes a WOS archive update, as does an SPA 2 update. Hence a list of new tzx files is normally avalable from the WOS frontpage.

This shows all the sinclair titles resolved including denied titles. What it doesn't show is the Amstrad and Commodore resolved titles and you will still need to go to the vault to find those.

Great way to support you guys, although I never really tought about it !!!
Really I will be happy to contribute by buyng a DVD, but will I be entitled to get free Updates cds or will I have to buy a new DVD now and then ?? And will you send it to the USA ? Is it also different or more complete if I buy the cds with the entire WOS database on it ?

Thanks, keep to good work going :)
