Which was your worst 'death' music/animation?

edited August 2008 in Games
Following on from the Gyroscope thread, which made me want to to break the sodding Speccy, what was your worst 'death sequence' in a game?

Be it music (Gyroscope), or animation/time taken (Monty Mole).

Sir Lancelot. It took absolutely ages for that angel sprite to reach the top of the screen.

Tank Trax... I remember having to sit through a really long death march every time me or a mate would lose.

    Blade Warrior (Codemasters)
"ARGH! Rest in peace" was cool the first 3 times...

Although it was quick, I found the death noise in Fahrenheit 3000 super annoying. It wasn't so bad every now and then but some rooms were so hard you'd lose 50 lives in them and you'd be hearing that high pitched squeel only seconds apart from each other.

Enough to make you hairs stand on end.

    I, Ball 2

The "Oh no!', followed by 'Yeah!' whenever you died/respawned got very annoying in a short space of time.

And as much as I love it....Olli & Lissa. The lengthy animations of Olli being dazed/tapping his head & Sir Humphrey smacking him with a broom when the time limit expired were only entertaining the first few times....

Well talking of annoying speech in deaths, Space Harrier II "AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!"..........."GET READY!!!!".

Seconded, many a time did my TV almost get a foot through it, because of that!

It's good that you didn't, though... Otherwise your TV would've been "fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinished"!!

Another annoying death/game over scene was BMX Racers... when you did crash, you had to sit there looking at that picture of the dude with the wheel around his head (quite nicely drawn though, I might add), and listen to that annoying bleeping for what seemed like an eternity!!

Any game in which, where you die, by jumping into a room, and get re-spawned at the same spot, i.e. jumping into the room repeatedly (i.e. the usual three times), and this, which my opinion is, and mine I call, as I have made it, thereby rendering it solely mine and hereby also being told, and relayed to you, this theory of mine, which I made and have come to conclude, and include in my life's work.

Wasn't that in Narc? At least the coin-op version I recall it having that message.

Agree about Sir Lancelot, pain when you died at the bottom of the screen and had to wait for the tune and the graphic to rise to the top

Dragons Lair, don't remember the system (maybe Amiga), but there was disk swapping involved.

Yeah, I know. It was that D.A.R.E. campaign which started it (I think).

I like the Resident Evil games, and some of the death scenes are pretty good, but I've always thought it was just a bit unnecessary to have a huge 'YOU DIED!' message appear. Like, duh! :p That would certainly explain why my character is no longer able to continue after being decapitated or eaten then.

Creepy I was going to write this in yesterday, but I decided against it, but you're pretty much bang on with what I was going to write. Freaky thing is the "like, duh!" bit, admittedly mine was going to say "Well duh!", but the bit about decapitation and stuff.

I may sound confusing but I know what I mean :D

I'm going to be cheeky and mention a PS2 game: Virtua Fighter 4. If you lost to the final boss - the game ends and you have to restart all over again, no second chances!!!

I am surprised no one has mentioned the terrible scream when the ninja was hit by an arrow in "Ninja Master".. :)

D'you know what? I've never played that game, but from all the screenshots I've seen posted here it doesn't look like the greatest game. The ninja doesn't look very mean, does he? He looks like he's getting ready to "do the time-warp", or something.

    You should try it! :)

It is quite bad, but fun to at least try for a round or two. And to listen to the screaming of course...

True. It's not the worst game I've played either... As far as ninja games go, I'd rather play this than Kai Temple, for example.

Wanted Monty Mole was pretty irritating - another angel - but Jack and The Beanstalk was the most irritating by far.

ISTR Pheenix as being quite irritating too.
