Any Doom players out there?

After setting up and fucking around a bit with Zdaemon, a couple of us regs played some old school online deathmatch with Doom.

If there is interest, then pop on over to:

http://www.zdaemon.org/

Download the client, sort it out and then when there's a few of us, I will organise an evening with the server and we can shoot each other!

This is kinda experimental, so I don't know how many players my server will support. The max is 16, but it could drop down accordingly.

Let me know if you're up for it.

    Which version of Doom is it ?.

    Not sure where my floppy discs are for Doom 1 at the moment :)

    Don't worry too much about that. If you haven't got the files, I'm sure one of us can sort you out.

    The amount of deathmarch Doom I used to play in the name of "network testing" is scary. The best bit was nobody could come up with a better way of doing it at the time. For some reason you were never short of people willing to help out with the "testing".

    Hmmm I occasionally come back to Doom every now and then.

    Plan to finish the Osiris TC one day.

    Just downloaded a full version of the Doom 64 TC with all the files to play it the other day. Last time I downloaded it it was awfully faffy and I had to go changing my version of Doom and a load of .WAD files which I only seem to be able to attach one of at a time for some reason.

    Can you use custom weapons in your death matches? Or are you keeping it traditional? I wanted to get the Rick Roller onto you if I was gonna play.

    just to say I can also run the server (hey it was my idea in the first place) if starglider gets eaten by a bear or something and isn't available when people want to play. but my net connection isn't as good as his (1/3 the speed on upload which is the bottleneck) so no idea how well that would work :)

    Well i've found my Doom2 CD, I take it I need the Doom1 for the correct .wad files etc?

    Again, don't worry too much about the WAD files, one of us can sort you out for that. Get Zdaemon installed and then let us know.

    I might give this a bash too at some point, haven't had a Doom deathmatch for bloody ages!!

    EDIT: Just installed it. Found the WoS server but need some .wad files.

    ive downloaded the zdeamon thing, what else do i need? i think i have some doom wad files somewhere.

    edit - just had a go at the shareware one, was pretty fun, quite quick too. never played an onling fps b4. so which is the wos server?

    I might have a go sometime aswell.

    I've only played QI and II (and HL1/2/DoD) online, never tried Doom online.

    Been ages since I played Doom aswell so I'll probably get me arse kicked :-D

    I'll give it a go. I've not played a Doom deathmatch in donkey's years though; it's been a diet of Nexuiz, America's Army and Enemy Territory for me lately.

    I will have to do this on my next night off now, because Doom is the only FPS I've bothered to come back to time and time again over the years. I had a bit of deathmatch craziness on quake, but lets face it that was shit.

    Doom eh? I'm gonna try and set this up for saturday night, I'll be rusty but soon I'll be "fragging" left, right, and centre :D
